A/N: Story about Jack Howard, from OMFGItsJackandDean, based on the song Don't You Worry Child, for a writing challenge linked at the end. Not my best work by far, but I'm happy with how it turned out, as it is my first Jack Howard story.

Black lace, umbrellas here and there. A light rain. Your perfect set up for a movie funeral.

If only this was a movie... Jack thinks. His family is sobbing nearby. After the funeral, he says his goodbyes to family, and gets back to his small shared apartment with Dean quicker than his family would want. But he prefers to just lie down by himself. Dean doesn't try to comfort him. Jack lies on the couch, closes his eyes, and lets himself be wrapped in memories of his father.

"Daddy, where you going?" Jack asked, waddling over on his little toddler feet. His dad pulled his coat on.

"Work, you know that." He replied. Jack stretched his arms up, and his dad picked him up, knowing he can spare a moment with his son.

"Why?" Jack asked.

"To support the family." Jack didn't get what his daddy was saying, but it was really smart. His dad started to hand the little boy to his mother, but he cried out.

"Daddy Daddy!" He says.

"What is it?" His dad says with a laugh.

"Bye." Jack says. His dad laughs, his bright eyes gleaming. Jack giggled as he was put down.

"You're getting too big to hold, Jack." Daddy left, and Jack scampered over to his mom.

"How do I remember that," Jack sighs.

"Remember what?" Dean asks. Jack shakes his head.

"You know my first girlfriend, Shelby?" He says. "When I was fourteen?"

"Yeah." Dean says, wondering why he'd bring it up out of the blue.

"She broke up with me on this hill, overlooking a lake." Jack sighs. "I'd waited all summer to bring her up there. After she left, I just sat up there, doing nothing, for a long time. I just didn't see a point in continuing; I didn't see anything without her worth living for. My dad found me finally, I had been sitting there for hours." Jack closes his eyes again, leaving Dean more confused than before. After a minute, Jack's eyes open again and he continues. "He said something that I won't forget." He closes his eyes again, and this time Dean understands he's doing his own thing to feel better. Without opening his eyes this time, he quotes; "'Don't you worry. Heaven's got a plan for you.' And I thought it was the stupidest thing ever, but it's stuck."

"Jack," Dean sighs.

"And every time I've met a girl who broke my heart, or I've lost something important to me," Jack sighs. "He's told me the same thing. And each time, it confused me more. But, I think I'm finally starting to get it."

"I'm sorry." Dean says.

"I'm exhausted." Jack falls asleep seemingly in seconds, and Dean leaves him be.
