Hey, everyone! Just another short Jack x Lacie story! Enjoy!

Jack ran his fingers through his hair. It was so short now, and it made him look neat. He touched his ear, and he could feel the blood that was dried on it. He propped himself up against the wall, closed his eyes, and sighed. His ear was hurting like hell. "That crazy girl." He said.

"Crazy, am I?" A sweet, melodious voice chimed. When he opened his eyes, he was met with dark red ones. Instinctively, he pushed her away. She stumbled back and fell. "Ow!" she yelled.

Jack jumped up and ran over to her. He held out his hand. "I'm so sorry, Lacie." He apologized. "It's just…instinct." Lacie took his hand, and he pulled her up. As she got to her feet, she threw him against the wall and bit his sore ear. He yelped in pain. "What was that for?" He asked as he rubbed it, hoping that the pain would stop.

She gave him a playful smile. "Sorry, it was just instinct." She then sat down, and he sat down beside her. She grabbed their blanket and threw it over them.

He looked over at her as she sat there. It was hard to believe that a day ago he was nearly dead and then she showed up. In the one day that she had been here, she had surprised him more than anyone else he knew. She was so weird.

He did have to admit that she was the most interesting thing he had seen and the most beautiful. Her long black hair that reminded him of the starless night skies, her petite frame that made her look like a porcelain doll, and those sharp red eyes said to be a sign of misfortune.

"What're thinking about?" Lacie asked. She was staring up at him. He hated how she did that. Her eyes looked like they could swallow him.

"Nothing." He replied as he turned away from her. He didn't want to admit that he was thinking about her. That was be too embarrassing.

"Were you thinking about me?" She asked as she poked his cheek. He was glad that his face was turned because it became red as a tomato. It wasn't that he liked to think of her. It wasn't that he even wanted to think about her. It was just an instinct.

"No." He quickly replied. He felt Lacie's fingers touch his chin, and she moved his face towards her.

"Then why are you blushing?" She asked giggling.

"I'm not!" He yelled. "I'm just cold. It's cold out here." It was the only excuse he could think of.

"Well, maybe I should warm you up." She whispered in his ear. She then pressed up against his side, and he could feel her warmth. He hadn't felt this kind of warmth before. It was different than just body heat. It was like she was the sun, and he was a planet that gravitated toward her. He scooted closer to her.

"I didn't know that you liked to be so close." She stated with a soft laugh.

"You're warm. It's an instinct." He explained. However, something in his heart told him that it was more. He wanted to be closer to her. He hadn't felt this kind of emotion before. He never wanted to be close to anyone. Before she appeared, he just pushed people away.

"Sure it is." Lacie replied. She laid her head on his shoulder and then wrapped her hand in his. He froze. "What are doing?" He asked.

She looked up into his eyes and smiled. "It's just an instinct."
