"Kendall, I don't think this is a very good idea..." Lucy looked over at the blond next to her. They were hiding behind the fake plants at one of Los Angeles' fanciest restaurants. They even had signature tree hats on. She smiled awkwardly as passing waiters walked by. Yes, two grown adults hiding in shrubbery at an Italian eatery was a strange sight. But it wasn't even her idea.

Kendall pulled the binoculars from his face and turned his head, green narrowing at brown. "Yes, it is a good idea. I don't trust that little punk." he said, refocusing his gaze on a certain table, determined to not let them leave his sight.

Lucy rolled her eyes. "Would a little punk be early to pick her up? Would he bring both her and myself flowers? Would he take her to a very classy...and pricy restaurant and hold her chair out for her? Wou-"

"I got it!" Kendall barked out in a whisper-yell. His eyes widened as the two teens turned to look in their direction, wondering where the random yelp came from. Kendall ducked and took the woman with him, letting out a breath as he realized they weren't caught. "I..I just worry." he whispered, pulling the plant apart, trying to get some kind of gaze on them.

"I know you do, babe." Lucy sighed with a small smile. "But she's almost sixteen, Kendall." she said. Kendall looked at the girl giggling something that her date, Nathan, had said. Her dimples showed as her dark hair bounced and her green eyes shined. He knew she was happy. And her happiness was one of the most important things in his life.

Sighing deeply, he waited until the coast was clear and grabbed his wife's hand, managing to get out of the restaurant without being seen. Once they were back in the car, they tossed their tree hats into the back. "But if he doesn't have her back by ten, I'm having a talk with the boy."

Lucy rolled her eyes. "Shut up and drive." she said with a small laugh.

The front door opened and closed. Kendall barely registered it due to his focus being on the current SportsCenter discussing his team's previous season. He jumped a bit when he felt arms drape around his shoulders gently and a kiss on his cheek. "Thanks for looking out for me, Daddy." but before Kendall could get any words in edgewise, Kaylee spoke again with a joking tone in her voice.

"But tree hats are so ancient." she said before bidding him goodnight and walking up the stairs to bed, leaving a proud and amused Kendall downstairs.
