So this is an alternate story to Lock and Key. I don't exactly have permission to do so, but I did e-mail the author several weeks ago and never got a reply back. SO in order to satisfy the author (and critics) I've decided this: IF THE AUTHOR OF LOCK AND KEY DOES NOT WANT ME TO POST OR CONTINUE TO POST THIS ALTERNATE VERSION OF THEIR STORY PM ME AND I PROMISE TO TAKE IT DOWN. I don't want to be accused of plagiarism, but I also want to get this story out my head. It's a what if version

Summary: What if Hitsugya succeed in running away?

Hiding in my little corner, I could hear nothing, but his approaching footsteps and my pounding heart. I held my breath frightened that the smallest noise would give away my postion. Why? Why do I have to be afraid of him. I love him! Why can't we work this out?

/I need space/ whispered a tiny voice in the back of my head.

Those were my very thoughts as he stopped right next to me. I don't think my heart could even beat in those few seconds. 1 second, 2 second, 3 seconds, and the footsteps faded away. But even so the sheer terror of that moment paralyzed me. Numb...I feel so numb! I stayed like this for a while, no longer holding in terrified tears. After a while, I realized it was raining and I was cold. The rain was comforting after blocking the world out for so long. Was the sky crying for me? I doubt it. I just sat there letting the pitter patter sound soothe me. The terror I had once felt was ebbing away. Soon I grew the strength to crawl out of my hiding space and cautiously looked around the corner. I was so sure he would appear any second and drag me back to that house. That prison.

He never appeared. Yet the fear was still there. So I raced over eight empty blocks making sure to look left and right not caring for the biting cold or rain drops smacking my face. I didn't want to be caught. I needed to run. I needed to get out. I glanced to my left. Clear. I glanced to my right and froze. On the ground, in a wet alley were a pair of red eye staring at me. I nearly suffocated. Panic rose through me and I could feel the bile in the back of my throat. I almost screamed when I noted the eyes getting closer to me. I wanted to run.I screamed at my body to run. But I couldn't move. Every inch of me was frozen. As the eyes got closer and closer by body shivered harder.

I blinked.

Meow

I was shocked out my terrified state. The eyes got closer until it stood in the glow of the lamplight. A tiny wet furball popped out. The eyes were not glaring or menacing. They were wide and innocent. It was muddy with patches of sliver white fur. It was a tiny pathetic looking cat...and it sorely reminded me of him.

Twenty minutes later.

I was cold, wet, and tired. Nonetheless my mission was a success. My acceptance letter in one pocket, emergency cash in the other, and (Mew!) A messy white head popped out of my shirt staring at me pleadingly.

For the first time time in a while my lips curves into a sincere smiles.

Gin

My smiled vanished like a ghost.

Gin
