A/N: I hate the fact that I haven't written anything in ages, so I basically forced myself to write this drabble because writer's block is killing me. Ugh this is so bad but just… bear with me? Maybe someday I can actually write something good for a change. D:
Fool's Dream
Despite the contrary belief, Roy did not hate the rain. At least outside of work he didn't. He actually liked it… he liked walking in the rain, for one thing. But he still didn't like to get wet, so having an umbrella with him was necessary. Just like that evening.
He was enjoying how the soothing and refreshing sense, walking down the street when suddenly something caught his eye. Something… red? A red jacket. Roy felt a smile ghosting on his lips. Fullmetal. For a moment, Roy just stood there, watching him. The young man was smiling, obviously not caring about the rain at all… perhaps he was even enjoying it. His hair was on a high ponytail and Roy thought it was amazing how it still looked so brightly golden even though it was supposed to be darker because of the rain.
Roy felt the urge to go to him and ask why he was standing there, Roy could offer to share the umbrella, walk him to home... Yes, Roy could see it all. The two of them sharing the umbrella, walking together, arms touching. So close Roy could easily feel Ed's scent, feel the warmth of his body. And when they would finally arrive to the house where Ed lived with Alphonse, they would look at each other for a while, say a few meaningless words… get stuck with gazing at each other, lean in… kiss.
Roy was just about to cross the street to go to Ed, he already opened his mouth and yelled: "Full – " but Roy never got to finish because right then, someone else yelled: "ED!" Roy turned his head and saw a figure running towards him and when she stopped, Roy realized it was Winry.
"What are you doing, standing here without an umbrella?! You're gonna get a cold!"
Ed grinned. "Relax, take a breath!"
Winry didn't look happy at all. "Ed, I'm sick of having to worry about you all the time!"
"So you worry about me?"
Winry blushed brightly and then… Ed kissed her.
For a while, Roy just stood there like an idiot, staring at them before he realized to walk away. An idiot indeed… dreaming about something so stupid, like a schoolgirl… how embarrassing. And foolish. Yet, with every step Roy took, he felt as if he was leaving behind bits and pieces of his broken heart.
