Author's Note: Random fan fic I found in my notebook. It takes place right after Zero came to live at the academy. I do not own VK. Enjoy.
A small silver haired boy wept in the moonlight. The breeze ruffled his hair and cooled his skin, but it did nothing to prevent the tears from rolling down his face, clouding his amethyst eyes.
It was sickening, the twelve year old though. He never cried; he was the strong one, always supporting his twin brother. Of course, the one time he needed support was when his family wasn't there to give it. His family was gone. They'd all been killed by vampires, the very things they'd all been trained to kill.
How ironic, he thought bitterly.
But things were getting better slowly, he had to admit. The crazy old headmaster had taken him in, and he was almost always entertaining, though often obnoxious. There was also the trips, the video games, the food...
The Girl.
A year his junior, but she looked much younger. She had long, chocolate colored hair that matched her eyes perfectly. She was about five feet tall and as cheerful as one could be. She was the kind of girl who loved everyone, and who was loved by everyone in return. Already, he was coming to love her, too.
There was a sudden shift in the branches of the trees overhead. At first, the boy thought it was a small animal. It was her.
She stepped out of the shadows, searching the clearing for him with her impenetrable gaze, then quickly spotting him. They looked at each other, never breaking eye contact, a whole conversation with no words spoken. An hour passed. Or maybe a second passed; neither could have told the difference. After the span of time, the young girl jumped down from the branch onto the forest floor.
Silver flew to meet brown in a mash of wind and tears. Arms opened and pulled closer. Sobs were hushed gently, and whimpers soothed. Both had something to say, but no words could say it right. Everything seemed to whisper, "I love you, I need you, I'll never leave you."
Finally, the boy broke the silence. "Yuki..."
She nodded. "Zero."
