How to Make Cookies
Three AM
"I can't believe I'm doing this," Tsukasa muttered under his breath.
Tsukushi glanced at him. "C'mon Tsukasa, where's your sense of fun?"
He immediately stopped and glared at her. "You call this fun? You've got a weird sense of humor, woman."
She rolled her eyes and snapped back at him. "I guess you just won't realize how much fun it is when you finally finished it knowing you worked hard at it."
She turned her attention back at the lump of dough in front of her. She sprinkled more flour and continued kneading it, determined to ignore Tsukasa. Why she ever invited him to join her was way beyond her now.
Deciding not to continue with his own dough anymore, Tsukasa crossed his arms across his chest. He was looking at anywhere but her and that's when he saw the picture. It was pinned by a magnet against the refrigerator. He moved closer to it and pulled it out.
"When was this?"
Tsukushi turned her head around and saw that he was holding the picture. She turned back to her work and said, "When I was working on my gift for you. Remember the cookies last year? Yuki helped me out and she brought a camera at that time."
Tsukasa stared at the photo, then at her.
She chuckled. "Thought it would be funny to take a picture of the pineapple-head cookies."
He blinked. Then he started towards her again. "Pineapple-head?!"
Tsukushi was biting her lip. Finally, she couldn't hold her laughter much longer and burst out laughing. Tsukasa, very uncharacteristically, reddened. At this, she laughed even more.
"Ha. Not funny," he said, irritated.
He got back to his dough again and this time, he worked with much determination on his face.
Tsukushi finally got a hold of herself again. She saw the serious expression on his face. She studied him closely and asked, "What's with you now?"
"Practicing."
"What for?"
"For your next birthday."
She raised a brow. "That's very original Tsukasa."
"I'm going to make you thin rectangular flat cookies."
A huge piece of dough hit him square in the face.
