A/N: A one shot about Elizabeth's desire to 'expand her horizons' (that's actually just a really bad pun). This used to be in my short lived drabble collection, but I've revised it into a one shot. :) Enjoy! Please review!

Theme: Sunset

Elizabeth had been watching the Caribbean sunset on the water from her window since she was a child. It was different now, viewing the sunset while on the water, older, and perhaps a little wiser. She was closer to the sunset than she had ever been, feeling as though she could reach out and pluck the sun from the golden horizon like a ripe fruit from a tree and bite into it with the delicious feeling that comes when dribbles of the sweet juice run down one's chin.

Beautiful, long shards of glassy yellow light fell upon the clear water as the sun descended, sending shafts of brightness down to the ocean's yawning depths, where withering plants stretched and grew to meet the lingering warmth of the sunlight. The ocean held its peaceful, bobbing calm, and a lull of serene lassitude swept over Elizabeth's body with each passing wave, making her limbs gradually grow heavy with the languid grace that could only come of watching the ocean's tranquil process and feeling the sunlight seep slowly into one's skin.

It was perfect—at the end of the day, she would sail off into the sunset, just like they always did in all of the storybooks. But there was one crucial thing that the stories left out—what lay beyond the sunset? What unknowns awaited her behind that hazy curtain of red gold and its faithful spotlight, the sun? She was determined to find out. Elizabeth wanted to see what lay beyond the horizon.

So she did.
