"Ron, I've enjoyed spending all this time with you," said Draco, taking Ron's hands and kissing him on the cheek.
"I've enjoyed it too," said Ron, blushing slightly.
Suddenly, Draco knelt down and took out a gold band.
"These last few months have been amazing, like something out of a fairytale. Will you give me the honor of being your partner?"
Tears came to Ron's eyes. "Yes! Yes," he cried, nearly tackling Draco.
"So," said Lucius in his drawling voice, "it seems we're to be in-laws."
"So it seems," said Arthur, trying to put aside his prejudice of the head of the Malfoy family. "Tell me, Lucius, do you know the function of a rubber duck?"
Lucius rolled his eyes and sighed. "This is going to be more difficult than I thought."
"Boys, boys!" trilled Molly. "Can't we just be happy for them? After all, the ceremony is only in a few weeks!"
"Molly is completely right!" said Narcissa, seating herself next to Lucius at the Weasleys' dining table.
Upstairs
"I heard Harry is pretty angry with Ron," said Ginny, whispering into Fred's ear. "He thought they were best friends, and then Ron went out with his ex. . ."
"Well I would be, too! Imagine having those feelings for someone and your best friend falls in love with them!" said George, poking his head out of his bedroom doorway.
"Well I think Draco and Ron are a cute couple!" said Ginny, her brow furrowing. "And he makes Ron happy," she added.
Both twins nodded, their argument invalid – they all wanted their brother to be happy, regardless of who he ended up with.
When Draco saw Ron walk down the aisle, it finally sunk in – Ron was his. He looked extraordinarily dashing in his white suit, and Ron thought the same of Draco in his black suit. Ron became aware that he was crying when he said, "I do" and his voice was thick with emotion.
After the ceremony, after they walked down the aisle as one, they had a small party at the Weasleys with just family and close friends.
"They're so cute," sniffed Hermione, lying her head on Fred's shoulder. He kissed her forehead and said, smiling, "I know."
After dinner, the couple had their first dance, and Molly started sniffling into her handkerchief. Narcissa joined her soon after when the small cake was cut. Lucius and Arthur stood in a corner of the small canopy that had been erected for the occasion.
"I'm glad they're happy," said Lucius. "That's all that's ever mattered to me."
Arthur clapped him on the back, smiling. "Me too," he said. "But seriously, I can't figure out this whole rubber duck situation. . .," he said, looking at Lucius who rolled his eyes again and strode away.
"You've made me the happiest man on earth," Draco whispered to Ron after some guests had left.
Ron turned his head and pecked Draco on the lips. "And you've done the same for me," he said.
Suddenly, everyone left at the party gasped. In the entrance to the canopy was Harry, who was staring at Draco and Ron, not with anger, but with resolve and happiness.
Ron stood up and Harry walked over to their table. "Harry," said Ron.
"Congratulations," he said, shaking Ron's and Draco's hands in turn. "I'm happy for you." He turned to face Ron. "I'm sorry I acted stupid before. You deserve to be happy with Draco."
Ron leaned over the table and hugged Harry. "Thanks, mate."
"Thanks, Harry," smiled Draco.
Harry nodded and left to talk to Hermione and Ginny.
Draco and Ron smiled at each other. Everything was resolved. Their wedding had been successful, beautiful – everything both of them had ever wanted from the moment Draco had said "Red hair and hand-me-down robes? You must be a Weasley."
