Authoress' Note: Aha! Yet another Drabble by me. What? I can't help it. I'm really starting to enjoy writing these rather than anything else. Besides, some people like them. This time around, however, is a little different. I'm testing out different pairings. So there shall be a hint of general Royai, but then again, could Riza be having feelings for another co-worker? Heh. I kinda sound like my summery. Ah well. Read and Review at the end. Thank you!

She told him that she was busy tonight.
Another lie.
Actually, she was busy seeing his best friend instead.
But he wasn't supposed to know that.
He wasn't supposed to know anything.
She thought she was cheating on him.
But nothing had even 'started' yet.
He would ask again.
She would find a way to get out of it—
"I'm sorry but I need to get an early start tomorrow."
He would sigh and lean over her desk.
"But you always need to get an early start."
His voice sounded almost blunt and helpless.
Why wouldn't she say yes? He would think, restlessly.
It wasn't fair.
But she would force a small smile and say, "we've got more work to do."
He would sigh and dawdle back over to his desk, sit down and work.
She would feel guilty afterwards.
Sometimes, she would open her mouth to say something, but then clamp it shut when she knew that it would hurt him more than it'd hurt her.
But she knew he'd catch on sometime, but for now, she wanted her life to be based on a lie because she had no other choice—
"Lieutenant, could I ask a question—"
He would ask.
She would force a smile.
There would start the cycle of lies all over again.

Heh. I'm really obsessed with drabbles (and the pairing of Royai) at the moment, as you can plainly see. But I hear people like them, so yeah. This is probably my very favourite one thus far, don't know why. Guess it just flowed the way I wanted it to, I suppose. Please Read and Review. I always love to hear what everybody thinks.
