"Caroline?" Stefan yelled into the empty woods outside of the boarding house. Caroline had stormed off after she came down stairs to find Stefan and Elena hugging. She pushed past them and out the door before either of them could explain. Now, Stefan was wondering in the rain though the woods.
"Caroline, come on." Stefan shouted again. He couldn't stop wondering what was going on with her. She's been acting weird ever since the stayed at her dad's old cabin. It was making him worry and a little bit annoyed.
"I will leave you out here." He said. At that moment she appeared behind him. He turned to face her. Her cheeks were flushed with angry.
"Go then. I never told you to come looking for me. Go back to your precious Elena."
"Why are you so mad at her?"
"You think I'm mad at her? I'm freaking tired of her getting everything."
"Caroline..."
"No Stefan, don't try to defend her. Ever since we were little everything's been about Elena. She's always had more friends, her family was perfect, she always got the perfect guys..." She glanced away from him then. Everyone knew Caroline had her sights set on Stefan the moment he walked into school.
"It's okay to feel a little jealous."
"Do you want to know why I was jealous at the cabin?" She asked all anger now gone from her voice. It was replaced by a look of hurt in her eyes. "It felt like you were picking her over me all over again. Only this time you weren't the sexy new kid I just met. You're my best friend. That hurt a lot more."
Stefan rushed toward her and stopped inches from her face. He reached up to take her face I'm his gentle hands.
"I am never going to choose anyone over you again." He whispered. His thumb tracing the side of her cheek as he leanded in toward her. Caroline was unsure of what to do, but her body knew exactly what it wanted. She grabbed his waist as their lips met. It was so soft and gentle. Caroline pulled at his belt loops to bring him closer.
They pulled away, but didn't let go of each other. "What was that?" Caroline asked
"I thought that's what you wanted. I know I did."
She couldn't hide her smile, "What about Elena?"
"I guess I've moved on. Without even realizing it." Stefan smiled, knowing she'd remember that she had told him he would. "I just hope you're okay with the fact that I'm not British..."
"Shut up." She said smile as she grabbed his hand. "Come on, let's get out of this rain."
