This was a school assignment that I had to do for the book The Things They Carried. This part is based off of when Tim O'Brien killed a man and gave him a back story of what that man could have been.

She laid face up in the woods of the park, a thin dead almost frail young girl. She had long dark brown hair that was tied back in a ponytail. She looked like she was about 17 years old. She was tall, about 5'7 with a thin athletic body. She wore blue jeans that had rips on the knee caps and a bump in her pocket which was her cell phone. Her cell phone had 8 unread text messages on it from the same person a person by the name of Dan. Underneath her jeans you could see a scar on her right knee cap that she must have gotten when she was younger. She wore a red short sleeved v neck shirt that was covered by her orange hoodie. She had her I-Pod headphones in her ears and her I-Pod in her hoodie pocket that was still playing. She had purple Nike sneakers that looked worn out, as if they were old. She had a pair of designer sunglasses that were on the ground with one of the lens out of the frames.
Her throat was slit and she had two stab wounds on her chest. There was blood coming from her chest and neck. She had some broken ribs that made her chest sink in. She had some bruises on her arms and face; it looks as if she had tried to fight someone off. She had a silver necklace that was yanked from her neck and was stepped on in the dirt. She was holding a bottle filled with water that was by her feet. There was also a note in her pocket that was threatened her life.
She had a loving family that contains a mother, father, and a younger brother. She worked as a babysitter and all the children she looked after loved her. She excelled at school and always got straight A's. She always helped others that were in trouble and had a dream of becoming a school counselor so she could help more children. But she could not help herself. She was in a bad relationship with her boyfriend Dan of one year and just broke up with him. Dan however could not leave her alone. He was obsessed with her and stalked her whenever he could she was walking in the woods when he attacked her from behind. She had no idea he had followed her since she had her I-Pod in. He slammed her on the ground so hard that he broke her ribs and got on top of her. There was rage in his eyes. He started to hit her; she tried to fight back, but he was too strong for her. She was crying, telling him to stop but he didn't listen. He figured that if he couldn't have her then no one could. He grabbed a knife from his pocket and stabbed her in the chest twice, then slit her throat, and left her to die. She could have been a school counselor and helped many students with their problems, but she couldn't help herself with her own problem.
