Set During: Season 3

I just watched the first episode of this season and got so mad at Martin – not Sam, you can hardly blame her for falling for him, but Martin. Martin who could have had Danny. I was actually angry.

Martin and Sam were just progressing to the beyond cuddle stage when there was a knock on Martin's apartment door.

"Leave it" He whispered into her mouth, gathering her tongue in his.

They knocked again, louder this time. "Martin, I know you're in there; the light is on."

Sam broke away. "Shit, it's Danny."

Martin sighed and rolled back over to the clear side of the bed. "Stay here," He pulled his shorts on, "I'll get rid of him."

He padded out of the bedroom pulling the door closed behind him. Hitching up the covers around her chest Sam tiptoed over and put her ear to the door.

Martin didn't have time to say anything as Danny strode right in to the middle of the room as soon as the door was opened.

"Danny, it's the middle of the night." Martin said rubbing his eyes and feigning tiredness.

"It's 1am: that's not middle." He was agitatedly pacing the floor, words obviously stuck in the back of his throat.

"Is this important? Can we do it in the morning?" Martin asked.

"Sure. Oh no wait – you'll be busy in the morning. Running around, always in places I'm not. And your phone will always be busy or go ignored. Are – are you ignoring me?" He asked with defiance, pointing his finger in Martin's direction.

"Seriously Danny, this is not the time."

"You haven't looked me square in the eye for two weeks – no, I'm not leaving here until we've sorted this out."

"I want you to go." It was a blockage.

"Are you ashamed, is that it? 'Cause the impression I got was that it went rather well and would likely repeat itself."

"Danny, please..."

"We were high on success and high on each other and it resulted in sex. We had sex Martin. Mind-numbing, toe-curling, orgasm ridden, sex. Or are you having trouble remembering that?" His voice was laced with painful sarcasm.

Martin dropped his head into his hands and said nothing.

"Is it a problem for you? What, because I'm a guy? Or because we work together?" Danny's face was flushed, his eyes welling.

Martin tried to prevent himself from glancing at the bedroom door but he wasn't quick enough. Danny followed his gaze and grew angry.

"What – is there somebody here? Come out come out whoever you are." He marched over and wrenched the door open. Sam stood in the frame, pale and wide eyed.

Danny took a step back and wiped his hand over his mouth, grimacing.

"Obviously not the work thing." He looked at her but his eyes were dark and unreadable. "Sam," He nodded in recognition and then turned to leave, fumbling with the handle as he opened the front door.

"Danny-" Martin intercepted, but he was cut off.

"You know Martin, I never had you pegged as the office whore." He said and then he was gone. Martin turned round slowly to Sam, who stepped back under his gaze.

"Don't touch me." She said, "Don't even look at me."
