I've been going through my Computer files and finding old drabble fics from my Michael/Jan writing phase that I never got around to publishing. I'm not sure how many I'll publish but here's one I quite like..

Michael Scott: The mention of his name gave her butterflies, even if she hated to admit it.

Whenever she visited Scranton, and the cameras were following his every move, Michael was incredibly immature and obnoxious. He'd display his huge ego, constantly making stupid impressions and fooling around so everyone would see him as such a cool boss.

If she was honest, she preferred the Michael the cameras didn't get to see. The Michael who was there for her that night at the motel. The Michael who listened to her as she poured her heart out to him about her divorce. The Michael who wiped away her tears and held her as she sobbed uncontrollably into him. The Michael who she discovered was an amazing kisser, and nothing like she had previously imagined. Not that she had imagined kissing him before that night.

It took all her courage to act like he disgusted her. What else could she do? Yeah, there were moments when she felt like strangling him, but the majority of the time, Michael was a pretty sweet guy. He would constantly call her to ask her how her day was, even if he knew that he would get the same answer almost every day. Whenever she rang him about a business matter, he always joked on with her and even when she was feeling at her lowest, his voice could make her smile without him even knowing it.

Sometimes she wished she could let him know how much of an impact he had on her. Not even that. Even if he knew that he cheered her up sometimes, and especially on her worst days. Or that she did find his jokes were rather amusing.

And despite missing him 95% of the time, she was kinda glad about the 2 and a half hour distance between New York and Scranton. At least being in New York meant she could hide her feelings for him more easily. That's what made those occasional visits to Dunder Mifflin Scranton so hard; being in Scranton always made her feel that she was going to slip up and reveal some sort of affection for him. If he found out she had feelings for him, she would never hear the end of it.

But yeah, Michael Scott: The mention of his name gave her butterflies, even if she hated to admit it.
