Quick Summary: Terezi accompanies Nepeta as she goes to the animal shelter where Eridan works. Slight crack AU.
Chapter 1
Eridan flipped through the pages of the shelter catalogue. One of the cages caught his eye and he began to snicker as he imagined stuffing a certain yellow-blooded land dweller into it. Oh, the things he could do if only-
THWACK
Oh God.
Immediately, he found himself staring at the entrance that Nepeta slammed open. He thought he heard a couple of screws tinkling on the ground after they were tore from their hinges from the force, but he tried not to focus on that at the moment. A scowl was plastered across his face. "Oh God, not you guys."
"Can it, receptionist scum! Nepeta over there is a loyal customer, so treat her with the upmost respect!" Terezi leaned against the doorway and took a big whiff. "Wait a minute; I'd recognize that floral scent anywhere! Eridan?"
The violet-blood grumbled, "Yeah, it's me. Har-dee-harr harr and whatnot."
Terezi cocked her head and swung her cane to the side. "What are you doing here of all people? I thought you hated animals. Just like everything else."
Eridan scoffed and gave her a quick eyeroll. "Oh please, as if I wwould ever wwork here on my own vvolition." He flipped the page and avoided eye contact. "This is a community service gig. Lousy officers gave me the option of this or 30 days in the slammer after punchin' a lowlife. Pfft. Wworth it."
She gave him a nasally little laugh. "Oh wow, seriously? Eridan Amporas, helping the community? Ha!" Terezi dusted off her shoulder with her free hand. "But anyways, my friend here and I would like to conduct business with this fine establishment. A transaction, if you will."
"No, get out."
Nepeta, who had been scratching at one of the doorways until now, gasped. "WHAT?!" Her pupils became cat-like as she slammed both hands on the front desk. "But Terezi said they'd let me see the ANIMALS!"
"No, Nep, just get out. NO."
Nepeta rolled her eyes back and tilted her head backwards, then started to wildly flail about. "But wwwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!"
"Nep, I-"
"WHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-" Nepeta started clawing at the desk, the armchair, and even a few of the magazines on the desk. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR UUGAAAAAAA-"
"HOLY SHIT, FINE."
"Yay!" Nepeta immediately switched back to her typical chipper demeanor and threw her arms up to the sky as she bounced over to the doorway leading to the animal cages. Terezi sauntered over as Eridan pulled out a set of keys.
"I hate all of you."
