The car slowed to a stop on a dirt path road, right in front of a grave yard. The thought of hundreds of dead corpses disturbed the coach, but he managed to ignore it.
"You sure you want to do this, Radio?" The coach asked, he looked at Radio and saw the determination written on his face. Radio slowly nodded his head.
"I'll be waiting in here, okay?" Radio again, nodded his head slowly. At a snails pace, Radio opened the car door. The coach observed as Radio walked in the graveyard.
The graveyard was gloomy looking. The skies was grey, it just finished raining, so there were dirty mud puddles around. The sun was no where in sight. Hundreds of grave stones poked out from the ground. Names and dates were seen, but no faces. Beside some grave stones, there were flowers, some dead and wilted, some bright and new flowers.
About a year ago, Radio's mother died of a heart attack. With the help from his friend, Coach Jones, he was able to get through this depressing experience. After spending a few minutes trying to find his mothers grave, he finally found it. Radio crouched down to the gravestones height, he then ran his fingers along the smooth stone.
"Mama," He smiled weakly, "When are you coming back?" He heard no response. He only heard the wind blowing, harshly.
Radio frowned and sat down on the grass. Out of his pocket, he slowly pulled out his trademark, his radio. It was a small, portable and rectangular shaped. Radio twisted the knob on the radio and searched through the radio stations. A pop song came on, Radio quickly searched for another song that Radio didn't like came on, he then searched for another station. Finally, he found the perfect station. It was his mothers favorite. A soft, gentle song came on, Radio made the song a little bit louder.
"Mama's favorite," Radio beamed to himself. Unfortunately, good things come to an end. The song ended making Radio feeling sad. Radio decided to lower the radio a little bit.
Radio sat in silence, only listening to the thunder from the distance. He noticed the clouds have gotten darker, so Radio knew that it'll rain very soon. He'll have to finish talking to his mother.
"Mama, I...learn how to write my name," He said softly, but he said it with a lot of pride.
"Look!" Radio exclaimed. He took his finger, imagining that it was a pencil, and then he tried to show his mother how he can write his name. Even though it was just swirls, his mother would still have been proud of him. The thunder crackled loudly, enough to make Radio scared. The young man quickly scurried to his feet; he felt a raindrop on his nose. He looked up and saw the clouds beginning to pour out its water.
"Mama, I got to go now," Radio quickly said, not wanting to get wet, he quickly ran off.
"I miss you!" Radio shouted, hoping his mother would hear him. A few moments later, he went into Coach Jones pickup truck. They quickly drove away.
Radio felt happy with himself. He got to spend time with his mother, told her he missed her, and they even played a few songs on the radio. He felt accomplished.
The car ride was quiet, no talking, no music. Radio frowns, but then, he remembers that he has his radio. The young man reached in his pocket, nothing was there. A horrified expression was written on Radio's face.
"Where's my radio?"
To answer that question, his radio is next to his mothers grave. Miraculously, the radio somehow doesn't get wet by the rain. The radio is playing a soft, gentle song.
His mothers favorite.
The End!
