(Author's Note: It's late. I'm keeping vigil for Simon Cowell guest hosting
SNL. So....pardon my bi-drabble.)
Hermione yawned silently as she closed her book. It was the summer holidays and she had been completing some homework in her public library.
"Surprise," whispered a familiar voice behind her. Hermione spun around wildly to see the a recognizable grin.
"Harry?" she began, confused. "Why are you here? Not that I'm not pleased to see you," she added hurriedly.
Harry shrugged. "I was around."
Hermione racked her brain for a reason why Harry would visit her in the middle of the summer.. "Did you lose your homework book?"
He shook his head.
"Have the Dursley's been starving you?"
Negative.
She checked the date. "Um...tomorrow's your birthday and you want to celebrate early?"
Harry shook his head. "Wrong!" He smiled fiendishly, gesturing to his hands. "I brought you a present!" Not waiting for a response, he indicated the water balloon cradled in his arms.
"Harry," began Hermione, again confused. "We're in a library."
"Yes," he agreed truthfully.
"And...you have a water balloon."
"Yup." With that, he tossed the balloon at her head. He giggled "Tag! You're it!"
"You idiot," grumbled Hermione, sopping wet. Her homework lay in a sodden mess at her feet. "That's not even how you play tag."
