Book of Matthew, 10:34 - "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." --Jesus

It was nearly the end.
The universe was in ruins. Everything had happened too fast - mankind was unable to control all that it had created, and now it would pay for its mistakes.
Unless…
Dr. Heywood had an idea. He could use his newest creation, a time machine, to go back to before all this started and prevent it… maybe if he gave people a reason to think about what they were doing instead of stumbling blindly into every possible technological advance, it would slow down their progress. Then, perhaps, they would have control.
There was no way he'd be able to leave that sort of impact himself, though. There was nothing special about him. He would create a child… no, two children, one a clone of the other. The first would be placed in the womb of a virgin. He'd tell its "parents" that it was the Son of God - that would be a good start. He would raise the second child himself. He would tell it about his plan. He would give it the technology to perform "miracles" so the people would believe it when it said that it was the Son of God. And he would get it to make sure people remembered it when it died.
This was going to cause a lot of controversy - probably even wars. Still, it was better than the alternative.
He hoped.

This ended up sounding a lot stupider than I intended it to, but I'm not sure how I could make it better… hmmm.
