Rei Katsukawa sat near the edge of the stream when she heard footsteps.
"Rei, um... What are you doing" a young boy about the same age as her said
sitting down beside her. "Kohaku," she looked at him, "I want to memorize
this place, to cherish every step, breath, and moment." Kohaku stared at
her, "What are you talking about, you said you were going to stay here with
me until I find my sister." "I know I said that but in 20 years from now do
you think I will be here, sitting near the rivers edge talking to you. So I
think I should remember each and every breath I take in my young years
while they're here," she said taking in one breath and falling down to the
ground with one large sigh. "Rei, will you be here with me? Stay here until
my sister comes back and live in this beautiful place with me?" he said
gesturing to the river and the forest behind and in front of them. "Yes I
will and until I die I will be here with you and only you" she said staring
deep into his dark brown eyes. Just then a glimmering light fell from the
trees. Rei stared deep into it. So did Kohaku and they fell unconscious.
Rei shot up from where she lay. She looked around. She lay on a strange looking futon in an all white room. She also saw a table with things to pull. Rei looked across room to see Kohaku lying unconscious with a bandage on his head. She got up and she felt a sharp pain in her side. Rei looked down there was a strange gown over her and her clothes have been put somewhere else. Doing the best she could, she hobbled toward Kohaku. "Kohaku wake up. Wake up Kohaku" she whispered hoarsely. He shot up suddenly, "Rei where are you." "I'm right here Kohaku" she said while looking at him in a strange manner. "Do you know where we are" Kohaku said? "No, but where is your yukata", she said looking down at his bare chest that had bandages wrapped around it. "I don't know" he said innocently.
"Mom I hear something from 'their room'" Souta said. "Kagome go check on them" Mrs. Higurashi said. "Alright" Kagome said. Kagome climbed to the top. She opened the door to the room to see 'the girl' sitting on 'the guys' bed. "Hi" Kagome said. "Hello, sorry to be forward, but whom are you" 'the guy' said. "My name is Kagome and yours" she said gesturing toward both of them. "My name is Rei and this is Kohaku" Rei said. "Kohaku that sounds familiar" She said. "Kagome are they alright" said Mrs. Higurashi. "Yes mom they are fine" she said in reply. "Good hello I'm Mrs. Higurashi and you are" she said politely. "I am Kohaku and this is Rei" Kohaku said this time. "Kagome let Rei use some of your old clothes and we'll steel some of Souta's clothes for Kohaku alright. Hustle people" Mrs. Higurashi said very very fast. Kagome and Mrs. Higurashi went out of the room to get some clothes for them both. "Kohaku what just happened" Rei said with her utmost innocent eyes. "I think we just met our inn keepers" Kohaku said.
