We were the last few military presence in the North, 4 months ago, there were hundreds of thousands of us, now, we're barely the strength of 10,000 combined. Reduced to quiet outposts, sheltering hundreds of scared survivors. Supplies and morale is low, suicides happen once, maybe even twice a month. Once ina while, Command would authorize patrol via the IFV to scavnge for basic necessaties. My name is Private Jarett. Jarett Conway, of the- of what used to be the 56th Marines, D Company. 2nd Platoon. I used to be military, now, I'm freelance. Sort of.

About Myself? Hmm...

I'm 22 this year, a father of one daughter, husband to an infected wife. I like pasta? Who doesn't man? Video games were my thing in High School up until I signed my life away in 2008...Facebook replaced gaming.

Haha. Know, what? Fuck it, I'll just skip to my story. My biography of sort. With the world fucked up, I wanna be remembered at least, you know, as the last few humans who's living through this hellscape.

It started in 2008, barely 4 months right after I finished Boot, I got assigned to the 56th Marines, who from what rumours said was gonna be deployed in Afghanistan soon. I'm not happy about that but, I found a nice place in my squad. Speaking of which, I'll talk abit about them.

There's Me, the Rifleman. Corporal Aki the guy with the AT-4, the guy's a Jap born in Brooklyn, looks like a Jap, talks like a Jap but can't speak Jap. Retard, hehe. Private Doyle, our Corpsman, the guy's kind of an asshole. He can smack talk anybody and not give them the chance to fight back. Two brothers, both riflemen, Private First Class Damien and Drake. These two are our pointmen. One's good with Geography, the other well, eating. And finally, our squad leader, Sergeant Benjamin Matthias. You'd think he'd be somewhere in Air-Force instead of Infantry. He's crazy about airplanes. You name any model you know, he probably has the Tamiya Model for it in his room.

Right, so, back to the Beginning of this hell. You guys know of the Green Flu so I'm not telling about that part, but it spread to this city, used to be known as New York back when everthing was, you know...normal. I saw from the news feeds how people were killing people.

Eating them too. Shit, it makes you see everything in a different perspective, your neighbour this sweet old lady who gives your kids ice creams once in a while gets infected and starts tearing your pet dog apart with her bare hands.

Kids dressed in nursury school uniform tackling their teachers and turning them into human happy meals. Mass Panic hit the streets like..wildfire. Hell had come to the United States of America.

And we were gonna be deployed right at the heart of it.
