Pink Prank
Ron rolled his eyes as Hermione dug through her bag. She was muttering under her breath. He could only catch the odd word but from what he could hear, she was talking about a spell book. She grinned when she found it and immediately started reading. They hadn't even been on the train for half an hour and she was already thumbing through the pages. From the look of it, the book had already been read a couple of times, judging from the marks on the pages. Ron sighed, they'd only gone shopping the previous week and she'd already probably read through all the books they'd had to get for school.
Harry was staring out the window next to him. Ron nudged him and grinned when Harry turned to frown at him. Slowly, Ron reached across and slid Hermione's wand out of her bag. He slid his own in its place. He knew exactly what Hermione would do. She would reach for her wand and practice the spell. Sure enough, Hermione was already reaching towards her bag, and picked up her wand. Her eyes were still fixed on the book.
Harry slid further into the corner. Ron's wand, although relatively new, was still as unpredictable as ever and if Hermione was going to attempt the spell she was reading then...
Hermione waved the wand and pointed it at Ron. Ron flinched although only a sliver of smoke erupted from the end. Hermione looked up, surprised and an irritated look crossed her face.
Ron snickered and Harry pretended to be asleep, which meant his best friend for the brunt of Hermione's lecture about swapping wands.
"You idiot! You should know what happens when someone tries to use a wand that isn't theirs! Do you know how much trouble we could've been in?"
Harry cracked open an eye and saw Hermione standing over Ron, hands on her hips. Ron was curled back into the seat with his hands raised in front of his face.
"Hermione..." he tried, but she glared down at him and held out a hand.
"My wand, please?"
He gave it to her and she threw his back at him. She was still glaring as she sat down again and resumed reading the book. Ron tried to talk to her but it was obvious that she was ignoring him. Harry looked back out the window and she glared at him as well, over the spell book. He opened his mouth to apologise but decided not to when she shot him a dark look and went back to the book. She pointed her wand at Ron and muttered a spell under her breath. Harry almost didn't look as Ron yelped in pain. He did look when Hermione snorted and burst out laughing.
Harry couldn't help himself. He choked back a laugh when Ron glared at him and adjusted his new clothes. Harry wiped tears from his eyes and Hermione doubled over, still laughing. Ron's face flushed bright red as he struggled to get out of his clothes and reached up for his trunk to get some less obvious clothes.
Hermione smirked and headed out of the compartment when Ron asked her to leave. Ron shot Harry a dark look as well and Harry followed Hermione outside the compartment. She leaned against the wall and tried to stop giggling. Harry smirked and leaned against the wall opposite her. Several students walked past and a couple shot them odd looks.
"Nice spell," he said quietly when the corridor was clear. "I particularly like the pink."
Hermione smirked back at him. "Serves him right. Besides, I thought he'd look good in a tutu."
