Loveless and Goodbye

He watched her adoringly atop the cliff edge. The forest below a wet blanket of leaves blocking her only slightly from his vision. Raindrops clung to him as they had the past few days, it seemed the rain wouldn't stop. He didn't care if it rained forever so long as it rained like this. The calm warm summer rains always reminded him of her.

"Kagome." The wind carried his voice away above the trees and just above her head. The way she glanced in his direction he wondered, did she hear him? Could she see him? Shaking his head in defeat Kouga kept his hidden position in the rocks and shrubs knowing her human eyesight was too weak to find him.

She was radiance and compassion. Her smile a sweet torture that he always fell victim to. Her laugh may have been a poisoned song of a siren there to ensnare him, but he didn't care. He'd stay by her side for eternity if she'd let him. He'd decided years ago that she would be his woman, why could it not be so.

Edging closer, Kouga stood an obelisk of defiance and passion, he had to get closer, even if just to see her. Swiftly down the mountain side into the trees, the rain making scent detection almost impossible, he got as he could, remaining in the shadows of twilight. Her unknown sentinel drinking in every word she spoke to her party, but he didn't notice them. She might have been speaking to rocks for all he cared, she was his only charge, she was his Venus. "Gods how I hate her."

Ebony tresses fell softly over her shoulders accentuating her alabaster skin and rosy lips. Her hands nimbly running over her skin trying to stay warm as a cool breeze brushed past. And he was there. Moving closer to her, putting his arm around her, holding her. Keeping her warm, keeping his woman comfortable. Growling low, Kouga dug his claws into the dirt below him watching as she leaned into his touch, listening as she sighed his name softly, almost a whisper, a plea, a moan. "Inuyasha."

He tore his eyes away, unwilling to look. He wanted to leave, no kill. Kill Inuyasha and hold his Kagome as the rain washed the filthy hanyou blood from his claws. Anger rising he snarled and made to lunge, but he heard her laugh. Her innocent laugh. Lifting his eyes to see, Kouga smiled as his rage dissipated. She was dancing. Dancing with no music and no care. Twirling in the open area where no trees covered, she danced as the rain soaked her clothes. They bound to her tightly hugging every curve as her hips swayed to the music in her head. Laughing freely her eyes, if only for a moment met his. They tempted and taunted. Dared him to be seen, to come out and take her for his. Those chocolate pupils of seduction that called to him, 'Kouga come here.'

Reaching out he longed to touch her; he needed to move closer, just a few feet. She stopped her back facing him, as he recoiled his hand she turned. His breath stopped as she smiled, 'can she see me?' Her eyes binding him again, calling him still. Delicious tragedy and beautiful surrender wrapped around him. "My Kagome, I would love you."

"Kagome." Him again. Always interrupting, always in the way. How is he always one step ahead of me? He holds her to him and says something Kouga cannot hear. His heart breaks as she wraps her arms around him. "It was nothing." And she kisses him.

"And so I am nothing." He turns to leave, to go. Back to the caves and the waterfall. Back to his duties as pack leader, back to life before Kagome. "Kagome." The name ground through his teeth like an evil curse. "You may have your sweet hanyou."

I was going for a darker side of Kouga with this one. It kind of hits a personal note with me. And yes he is supposed to sound a lil bit crazy. Love does that to ya.
