Leaves fluttered in the breeze. Squirrelflight's paw steps seemed increasingly, dangerously loud in her own ears. Heart racing, she ran like the lives of millions depended on her. Only her sister, Leafpool, mattered now. Squirrelflight had promised to keep her sisters secret from the Clan, for she knew that no matter how highly respected the daughter's of the leader were, exceptions could not be made to rule breakers, especially at this degree.
Leafpool had fallen in love. Usually, that would not have been a problem. Except for two problems, one, Leafpool's love, Crowfeather, was part of WindClan. It is forbidden by the Warrior code that all four Clans' cat's follow. Two, Leafpool is a medicine cat. Medicine cat's are forbidden to have mates or become parents… which is exactly what happened. Leafpool knew today was the day her kits would be born, and she asked her sister to take them in and claim them as her own. Squirrelflight immediately agreed to help. Her sister came first, although she would never admit her sister came before her Clan, it was true.
Squirrelflight froze when she heard paw steps less than a fox-length away. She let out a sigh of relief, "Leafpool, you scared me!"
Leafpool gave a forced smile, "What? My big, bad, warrior sister scared of a helpless medicine cat?"
Squirrelflight chuckled. "How are you doing?" she asked in concern.
Leafpool shrugged and gave a small smile. "You're going to need to help me. It's not too difficult." She quickly explained to her frightened sister what she had to do. Squirrelflight nodded.

Leafpool looked at the three kits at her belly. This would be the last time she could be near them as their mother and not the medicine cat.
"What would you like to name them?" asked Squirrelflight.
"I'll leave it up to you and Brambleclaw," Leafpool forced out.
Squirrelflight gasped, "I almost forgot about Brambleclaw. I promised I'd come back soon. He's been worried about me and says I'll hurt the kits."
Leafpool let out a soft laugh without taking her eyes off her kits. "Well you should get back to him." She looked up, "And, Squirrelflight?"
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
