Tuck Everlasting-Jesse's remorse.

He walked over to the beautifully carved gravestone holding his breath in anticipation. As he brushed the leaves aside the words came into view,

Winifred Foster Jackson

1889-1999

Dear Mother Dear Wife.

He walked over to the pale cream slab and read it again just to make sure; the words swam like fishes before his eyes as tears welled up. Bits of blossom fell into his dark brown hair as the wind blew a soft breeze at the pale pink blossom above the tombstone.

"So she didn't drink from the spring. I am not surprised. I wouldn't have if I had known."

Jesse thought quietly to himself as he stood up.

"Who's there" a shrill voice cried

Jesse quickly dived into the rose bush before the old frail woman could see him.

"OUCH" He cried in almost a whisper.

He peeked out from between the deep red, soft petals the woman looked around calling

"I don't like children, come out come out whoever you are and if you jump out at me, I will I will……. Set my dogs on you" Shouted the grey old woman.

Jesse laughed at the two scruffy mongrels, small enough to fit into his hand.

What could they possibly do to him he was immortal, Jesse thought to himself.

When the woman had gone Jesse jumped from behind the bushes rubbing himself with all his might at the various scratches on his skin.

He quickly got on his shiny black motorcycle and drove off into the bright yellow sunset.
