Thea sat in the coffee shop window draining her mocha and rubbing the sleep from her eyes. This psych paper was going to be the death of her. She'd procrastinated… again. The paper was assigned six weeks ago and was the bulk of her grade, but little things like shopping and parties were always so much more enjoyable than college and then there's also community service time. She had put it off for a month and now she had to pay the piper. "At least I only have three more pages and my citations to go!" she thought while watching the parade of cubicle dwellers arrive for their morning pick-me-up. "How do these people do it? Day in, day out, the same coffee, the same boring job in the same shabby little office," she mused.
Her phone buzzed, jostling her from her momentary daydream. The text message read, "Thea, Where are you? I thought we were having breakfast –Mom" "Sure Mom, whatever." She got to her feet, picked up the laptop to leave, turned and then it happened. An annoying, bouncy cheerleader-type turned head long into her, spilling her tray of iced coffees and hot chai all over Thea's clothes, purse and worst of all, her laptop.
"Oh crap!" Thea yelled as the hot and cold liquids oozed down her body in a brown caffeinated waterfall. The flustered bouncy girl recognized Thea immediately and ran out of the coffee shop, hoping to avoid her fifteen minutes of fame on You Tube being the coffee assault of Thea Queen.
"Ok, now what?" she thought to herself. "What am I going to do now?"
