In her short life, she has lost too many people. She was once given a hand, and saved from darkness. Now, she will extend that hand.

Five times.

Five times she has lost those she loved, their existences vanishing from her grasp.

First, her parents.

Then, her aunt.

Her aunt was not really dead, but without those precious memories…she might as well have been.

Then it was Tatara, who burned as quickly as a candle, and was as easily snuffed out.

Finally, Mikoto.

That night, when the celebration of the reopening of HOMRA bar ends, she enters her room, and flings herself onto the bed.

Her eyes flicker towards the window, and then up to the ceiling, staring into nothingness.

One by one, their images flash through her mind.

At last, comes the image of her boys, of the warm people who saved her years ago.

She wants to stretch her hand out this time.

This time, she will not fail.

This time, she will protect them all.

"I will not lose more to the Slate," she whispers into the darkness.

The hush of the shadows does not answer.

But she is not looking for one anyways.

This time, there will be no devastation.

This time, she will be the one to extend a hand, extend a flame to protect them.

This, she guarantees.
