Prologue

Carus gazed at the glowing half-moon of a quiet midnight sky through a window in a dark and empty classroom. He appeared almost angelic in the illumination of the moonlight. His silver-blonde hair outlined a boyish face endowed with deep, violet eyes that glistened like large purple pools in the twilight. Carus wore a white robe that opened at the front to reveal a delicate and effeminate body. He appeared to be a bit melancholy, incidentally augmenting his beauty even more, as he leaned against the cold granite window seal. He sighed and continued to stare at the moon as if he were looking, searching for something lost in its luminance.

Suddenly, he felt the warm sensation of soft lips on his neck as two arms slowly embraced him from behind. A man stood behind him clothed in the same type of robe Carus wore, though his was black. He was about half a foot taller than Carus, with spiky hair, black as the surrounding night and narrow, crystal-blue eyes that seemed to captivate everything that looked into them. His Olympian-like body pressed tight against Carus as he whispered, "Shouldn't you be asleep? We have quite the day ahead of us."

Cantus continued to watch the sky, but now he was smiling slightly. He could feel Zack's warm breath upon his slender neck as he spoke, the warmth of his body upon his own.

"If only I could", Cantus said "I can't sleep with all these thoughts running through my head."

"Ah…you're still thinking about him aren't you?"

"Yes."

Zack sighed.

"You know he's just a normal boy now. They've removed the vast majority of his knowledge and many of his memories as well. He's no different than any of the other incoming first-years now."

The smile faded from Cantus' face. His eyes finally tore away from the hypnosis of the moon as he released himself from Zack's embrace and turned to face him. He looked into Zack's sapphire-blue eyes, trying not to get swallowed by them. His voice grew more quite now.

"He's not the same as any first-year. He's the Chosen One, the one who saved us from the darkness, the one who shed light upon this lost world and many others when we needed it most."

"He's not the Chosen One. Not anymore", Zack spoke strongly.

"His heart is the same. No matter what they took away from him, his heart will always remain just as pure. He will always be the chosen one, at heart."

Zack sighed again, this time a bit heavier.

"Well regardless of whether he is or not, I don't think you should be calling him 'the Chosen One' anymore. It's not like he remembers being the Chosen One anyway.

"Well then, what should I call him?"

Cantus gasped as Zack pulled him violently to his hard, muscular body. Their lips touched, interlocking like two gears, created solely for each other and nothing else. Cantus closed his eyes and moaned softly as Zack's tongue forced its way into his mouth. They stood there motionless for a few seconds. Then Zack pulled away, smiling. He cupped his lover's cheek with his hand. He seemed to be almost laughing as he said, "I think Sora will do."
