"Hey!" Blaine brightened up when Kurt walked into the classroom. It was empty because June had reserved it for him to work a couple hours a day. She wanted everything perfect for the show. He stopped abruptly on the piano letting the last note falter off.
"I was just about to call you." He zipped up his bag and stood. "I'm so exhausted from all this rehearsal for the show. I've been dancing, singing and practicing piano, back and forth all week. I'm starving too, do you want to go get some food or maybe..."
"I just ran into June in the hallway." Kurt said shortly. Blaine noticed his face then, it was tight with anger and there was hurt in his eyes. Kurt's eyes were always a tell-tale sign when he was upset. They were never a dull as when he was sad. His eyes were enough to make Blaine's heart drop to his stomach like how when Cooper forced him to he used to go on roller coasters as a kid.
Before Kurt spoke his lip quivered like when he was angry but still trying not to cry, "I was asking her about the part...MY part and whether or not I should take a risk of a velour suit and she looked at me like I was crazy Blaine."
Blaine's voice caught, he knew what was coming. He swallowed loudly. "Oh."
"Oh. That's all you're going to say?! I just made a complete idiot of myself talking about a part that I don't even have, to her! She laughed at me Blaine, LAUGHED in my face. But I just kept thinking this isn't right, I clearly have a part because my FIANCE who would never lie to me told me. Or am I just so into this, being proud of you and letting you have your moment that I made my own part up?"
"Kurt listen I was just..."
"No, let me finish." Kurt snapped. "The best part...the absolute BEST part was June telling me that she told you to end our engagement and you never said no. You never gave her an answer."
"You weren't there. I told her I would think about it, NOT breaking off the engagement, but that I wanted..."
"You lied to me! You sat there in my face and lied to me. Okay do you see what the problem is here? How can I trust you when it's so easy for you to lie to me all the time? How are we supposed to get married if it's so easy for you?" Kurt voice broke and his eyes got watery.
Blaine's face crumpled. "Kurt I didn't want to hurt you! I'm so sorry...I just thought...I was trying to get us to share this moment together…"
"Don't. Don't act like lying to me is your way of justifying all of this. You said you would never lie to me." He locked eyes with Blaine. "Not after last time."
"That was different."
"Was it though? Because you looked at me and lied about sleeping with some random guy…"
"We've moved past that! You can't keep bringing that up!" Blaine raised his voice. "I've apologized to you; you CAN'T keep punishing me forever."
"Well it's hard not to when it was just as easy for you to lie to me then as it is now." Kurt said tight lipped.
"I just thought that for the show…."
"Here." Kurt took off his ring and shoved it against Blaine's chest. "Have fun at your show, you win. Now there's nothing to think about anymore." He turned to walk out the door.
"Kurt! Kurt please stop!" Blaine called his voice cracking and tears pooled in his eyes. He looked down in his hand at the ring and closed his hand. Even though Kurt had just taken it off it felt cold. He couldn't even run after him, all he could do was breakdown.
