"Most people would consider hiring me just to find a few photos a bit extreme." Akabane remarked.
The young man before him merely shrugged and pocketed the pair of photographs, one old and ragged while one was still new and shiny. "Perhaps. Here," A check was held out. "Your fee."
Smiling, he waved off the check. "No need for that, Takatori-san. I had great fun playing with the telepath and his pet psychotic."
Mamoru Takatori arched a brow but otherwise ignored the comment. "Well, I'm happy for you then. I don't suppose you killed them?"
Akabane offered a smile and a jaunty wave. "Of course not, how could I play with them later if I killed them now? Good opponents are so difficult to find these days. I suspect they'll be too busy to be stealing any more of your treasures, though."
"Then I thank you for your services. Perhaps we'll do business again."
"Perhaps we shall, Omi-kun, perhaps we shall."
He admired how well the young man hid his surprise and unease at the innocent comment. Of course, one expected such from a former assassin who still dabbled occasionally. With a final tip of his hat, he left the office. The case that had seemed too mild for his tastes had turned out much more amusing than he'd expected.
Perhaps he would indeed get to play in Takatori's backyard again some day. For now…
Well, it had been a while since he'd seen Ginji-kun.
