Love_bingo prompt: We were on a break!

Angela loved Joel. She really did.

But sometimes, he was kind of idiot.

Adorable idiot but an idiot just the same.

When he said that he wanted to have a break from them, she almost rolled her eyes out of her head.

She knew the reason. He knew the reason that he wanted a break.

He was afraid of the wedding thing which surprised her. For a man that faced giant monsters on regular basics, he was afraid of a couple of wedding planners.

It almost made her laugh.

At the cake tasting, he threw his arms into the air and demanded a break. She almost felt sorry for him.

Almost…Now, she wished that he would get over it.

Well, there was only one way to handle it.

She was going to get dirty.

It took her a few days. Most of her staff has been with her for many months and in some cases, years. Joel would know something was up if she was suddenly flirting someone that she had work with for years. So, she waited for the right moment and the right people to show up.

Every few months, there was a change of the guard if you will.

Today happened to be the day. She eyed each newcomer as they came off the sub. She smiled when she found the right guy for her plan. He was tall, muscular, and has deep blue eyes. Yes, he will do. Her eyes glanced over at Joel, who was talking to Carter. Her eyes darted back to the guy. Slowly, she approached him and smiled.

"Hello?" She said softly.

The guy blinked for a moment then smiled at her.

"Hello, ma'am."

"My name is Doctor Angela Fairweather."

"It is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Private James Vinson."

"First assignment?"

"Kind of…I was stationed at Fort Hood for a month or so."

She shook her head at the place. Not one of her favorite places at all. He laughed.

"You had the reaction as me."

"Not the best place to be."

"Tell me about it."

She heard a familiar cough over her shoulder. She didn't need to turn around to know who it was.

"Angela…Can we talk somewhere?" Joel said.

She glanced over her shoulder. He was wearing that kick the puppy look. She almost laughed. Almost.

"In a moment. I am getting to know James."

"Angela…"

She sighed softly.

"Excuse me for a moment, James. I will be back shortly," She said as she turned on her heels and walked to an empty hallway. She turned around to look at him.

"Well?"

"Well, what? I want to know what is going on?"

"I believe that we are on a break that gave me a little freedom to look."

He sighed and rubbed his nose between his fingers.

"Not from each other! From the wedding stuff! It is pure craziness that our families are trying to put us through!"

"And you didn't think to tell me that?"

"I thought that you knew!"

She gave him a look. He put his hands on her shoulders.

"I love you. I want to marry you even if our families are crazy."

She laughed.

"Not as crazy as monsters?"

"Okay…they are close second then?"

She smiled softly at him as he wrapped his arms around her.

"So…we are good?"

"We are good. Women may pretend that we can read minds but in many ways, we don't. So tell me next time…even if I figured out that it was the wedding."

"Gotcha. Better communication skills."

She laughed softly as she slipped her arms under his.

Adorable…but dense.

Maybe, one of these days, she break him of that habit.

She thought for a moment….Not going to happen.
