Stolen Moment
It was Christmas Eve. Hermione Granger had said so. Harry Potter looked around at the village where he grew up. It was all so surreal. As a child, he never thought he would be able to go back to the place where the life he was supposed to live was taken from him. But now…I'm here, Harry thought.
There was snow everywhere. The church was full of people, singing carols, laughing as if nothing ever troubled them. Harry secretly envied them. If his own parents had been alive…well, he might be one of those people inside the church, singing and enjoying Christmas.
"Your mum and dad will be in there, won't they?" Hermione pointed at the gate behind the church. "I can see the graveyard behind it."
Adrenaline rush took over Harry. He was here; he would see his parents like he imagined himself doing for years. He felt a rush of gratitude for Hermione. Who would have thought that he would visit his parents' grave with her?
Hermione must have understood how he felt for she took his hand and started to lead him toward the graveyard. But before he moved, Harry knew he had to do something. "Hermione, wait." He pulled her back.
"What is it, Harry?" she stared at him, concerned. Harry almost forgot that they were impersonating a Muggle couple. Disregarding the unfamiliar face that stared at him, Harry pulled Hermione closer, and cupped her face. He leaned down and kissed her lightly on the lips. The kiss only lasted a few seconds but it left them both stunned. "Thank you. For agreeing to come here with me," Harry said.
Hermione stared at him a moment longer but then smiled kindly. "You're welcome. Happy Christmas, Harry." She seemed to have understood what he had meant with the kiss. She would always be the best friend that he could rely on.
"Happy Christmas, Mione."
Hermione took his hand once again and proceeded to lead him towards the kissing gate that led to the graveyard behind the church. More pressing matters were at hand, but there would always be stolen moments that would keep them fighting.
