Hey everyone. This story was also written for the Pinata Club. I wrote for Slash Pinata. Again this another part of the Nerves Universe. It comes a few months after Family (Isn't Always Blood). There is something missing from their little family and Regulus knows that James feels it too. But he's too afraid of scaring the other boy still even after all the years they've been together.
"Reg," James breaks his thoughts before they can go any further than this, "I know that look on your face. What are you thinking?"
It times like these that he wishes that James Potter wasn't as good at reading him. He doesn't know how to word his request. His parents always told him he'd end up with a nice pure-blood wife and a bunch of pure-blood babies. And true to their words he ends up with a nice pure-blood just not the wife that they wanted him to have.
"Um..." his voice falters before he can even form the words and he hates how weak he feels right now.
"You tell me anything, Reg," James tells him taking Regulus' hands in his own. "What are you thinking about?"
"I think I...I..." he has steel his nerves again to continue his sentence. "I think I want children, James."
"Is that all?"
Regulus nods. He thinks both he and James would be wonderful parents but he knows that he can't give James a child that is both of them. He wishes more than anything he can but it just doesn't work that way.
"Do you want to adopt?" James ask. "Or we go with a surrogate mother? Whichever way you want to do this I'll be happy with." The smile that stretches James' face makes him glad that he did bring up the subject after all.
"Maybe we can go the surrogate route," he suggests tentatively mind deep in thought. He's glad it sounds as though James has given this as much thought as he has. "That way we can both have a child that is genetically ours."
James kisses him pushing him back against the house. "You do know," James begins playfully, "that when we do have we can't go about things the way we have been?"
Regulus nods kissing James back eagerly. "But it's only for eighteen years," he says pushing out from under James Potter. He grabs James by the tie and drags him to the bedroom. If things were going to change drastically soon they might as well live their lives now.
