Hey! I had this on the site aaaaages ago and I took it off, recently I've got back on and decided to repost it (found some ye olde print offs stashed in my desk). I think my writing styles matured a lot since writing this but I hope you enjoy it .
I hold no rights over Chobits or its character's whatsoever, if I did I'd be laughing manically in a Chi outfit inside my mansion...oh well...

The dull thump of approaching footsteps echoed through what was once both Hideki and Chi's apartment. Dust coated the sparsely furnished room and had even begun to settle on its only occupant, who sat staring unblinkingly at the door, stirring at the noise.
Chi no longer knew how long she had been waiting for Hideki's return. Time holds no real importance to those who are not affected by it, so Chi had been content to loyally sit, watching the door, as the weeks and months dribbled past.
She was alone.
Hibiyasan was dead, having finally given in to old age to reunite with the husband she had mourned over for so long.
The information of Hibiyasan's death held no special relevance to Chi. It simply meant she wouldn't be seeing her for a while, and Chi had forever to patiently wait to reunite with her friend so she felt no emotion at her loss.
Hibyasan's death could not have been further from her mind at that moment, however. All attention was centred on those footsteps, which surely, Chi thought, announced her beloved Hideki's return.
The claps of sound fast approached the room's only door. Chi stood up, dust falling from her stiffened limbs.
"Hideki!" she joyfully cried, arms outstretched as the originator of the noise stood before the door, silhouetted through the thin material.
"Hideki! Hideki!" Chi ecstatically repeated as the focus of her attention paused before the door, seemingly aware of Chi's calls, made a move towards it, stopped, slowly turned and walked away.
Arms still raised to accept the embrace of her beloved Chi's smile faltered and her call changed from a happy, adoring welcome, to a weak and pleading "Hideki?"
Chi's arms gently fell to her sides as the joy from what she thought to be Hideki's return drained from her to be replaced with waves of disappointment.
After several long moments of waiting to see if the person would return as Hideki, laughing at Chi's reaction to his appearance, Chi gently reclaimed her seat on the floor.
It didn't really matter, she told herself as the footsteps faded into nothing. She had already waited years and would now continue to do so. Waiting for something only makes the thing itself better when the time comes...Hideki had told her that when they had got engaged and Chi was impatient to join with him, to become his other half.
She would never realise that Hideki would never again walk through that front door. Never understand that all she was waiting for was her own ending. It would never cross her mind.
In years to come at the demolition of the now derelict apartment block a broken persocom would be found beneath the rubble of the building. Its legs would be crushed from the weight of the debris and as the builders swiftly tried to move this unwelcome junk, that piece of outdated annoyance complicating their work, the creature would look with failing eyes at the nearest person, weakly raise its arms and breathe "Hideki...", joyous at her loves return.

I'm so sorry! Next time I'll write something cheerful, poor Chi. Oh dear I've managed to depress myself. I hope you enjoyed it and pleeeaaaassee review, my deflated ego will thank you very much for it . Yodel!
