"I didn't know you played the piano," she said, leaning against the doorframe.

He whirled around, frowning, at the sound of her voice.

"I didn't know I had given you permission to barge into my chambers, Miss Granger," he retorted.

She smiled.

"Your wards were easy enough to break Besides, it was rather worth it," she smirked, gesturing to the piano.

"Leave," he commanded, but she stood resolutely in his position.

"Fine, then. Do what you want."

Saying thus, he went back to hI'd instrument, and sat down on the stool. He didn't play it however. It was childish, he knew, but he was determined that she would not hear him play again.

But much to his surprise, she herself walked over to him, and sat down by his side. He stiffened, but did not turn to her.

"Well?" she asked, after a pause. " What is your favorite piece?"

"I am not obliged to answer your questions, Miss Granger," he replied, hoping his voice did not betray him

"Hermione. My name is Hermione, and I would prefer ypu call me that, now that our position is that of equals. And I agree. You are not obliged. But humour me anyway."

He sighed resignedly at her words. She smiled as his long fingers began to play the first notes of the well known melody, dancing over the black and white keys.

She soon found herself humming along, and when she turned to look at him, she was glad to find he too was wearing a rare smile.
