Another One-Shot how it should have been kinda thing. To explain this, I just watched the 100th episode of Bones and the end made me cry in frustration… so, I'm here to help give Booth and Brennan the relationship they deserve. Review?

'I'm a scientist! I don't know how to change!' Brennan said sadly, her voice seeping slowly into the confused mind of Booth. He wanted her, as much as she didn't know it, however he tried to hide it, he could never find someone that wasn't her he could even try to love. 'I'm sorry… I just don't know how to change…' Tears were dripping down her face, mingling with his from the kiss just before. Booth clenched his fists and forced himself not to let the tears win over.

'Let me show you.'

'Show me? It's not in my nature to change.'

'I can help you… just give this a chance…'

'You can't make me change Booth.'

'But I can help you change yourself. Please… just give me a chance?' He looked at her, willing her to understand and see he wasn't faking; wasn't messing with her. He could think of a way to prove he meant it, but he'd already done it – less than five minutes ago. Brennan looked up at him; his face was streaked with tears and a little of her lipstick was smudged on his lips.

'I don't want to change.'

'I want you to be happy. I want to be happy. You make me happy Bones, you make me happy. Please…'

'By making me change… you're making me unhappy.'

'Then don't change.'

'But I want to love you… without a change I can't.'

'You can't love me? Bones, love is a feeling… not a physical change.'

'It's a change in mental status.'

'Brennan please.'

'I'm sorry.' She turned and walked away from him, tears streaming down her face as she struggled with her emotional turmoil. Behind her, Booth stared at her retreating figures through eyes clouded with tears. Then he, too, turned and walked away from her. Brennan turned and looked at him, shoulders slumped in defeat and dragging his feet as he walked, hands shoved deep into his pockets. She felt as though something inside her was tearing loose, something she needed, wanted, couldn't survive without. After a few moments deliberation, she ran after him, her heels clicking on the tarmac. He was further away than she'd thought, and she ran into him, knocking him to the ground.

'Brennan?'

'Booth… I've realised that I've already changed. For the better. You already changed me.'

'I… I did?'

'You did.' She smiled at him, still lying across him from the fall.

'Wow.' He smiled back at her and slowly pushed her off of him, standing in a languid motion. He reached his hand down to her and pulled her to her feet. 'I guess I really did.'

'What?'

'You would never have done this a year ago… Since my tumour I realised life is too short to mess around and waste chances. I'm not wasting this chance Brennan, and I refuse to let you waste it,'

'You refuse?'

'I refuse. I love you and that's all that matters to me.'

'Booth… I…' Her words were cut off as, infinitely slowly; Booth gently cupped her face in his hands.

'I know I've already done this… but…' He kissed her gently, stroking her face with a finger and pushing her hair out of her eyes. 'I love you.'
