My name is Peyton Renee Wilson and it's been the most exhausting year I've ever had in my life. Not even completing the police academy was this traumatizing. I've had a horrible break up that has caused me to uproot myself from my home and what little family I have left. Not only that, but I've moved across country just to get away from that hell. I was just lucky enough to hear that the LAPD was looking for someone that had my talents. So I hopped on the next flight and here I am...at a new district, got a new boss, and a so called "partner" I'm not happy with at all.

For starters, I had requested a female partner and was told that wouldn't be an issue. Then when my first day hit, I was told things weren't gonna be like they usually are for newcomers. Another government branch called NCIS needed an LAPD liaison and I just so happened to be the chosen one for the job. Except, there was one huge problem with this arrangement. I hadn't really worked with them much and I get paired with another LAPD officer if I need someone to watch my back. After six months of not really working with this guy, I count it as a good day when his name isn't even mentioned.

A small sigh escaped when I looked at the clock on my laptop for possibly the twentieth time. I had three hours left of my shift and it was dragging by slowly. I was supposed to be writing up my last report, but Lieutenant Bates was on the phone, pacing back and forth in his office. I had a feeling this wasn't going to bode well for me. Sucking it up and willing all distractions away, I got back to work on the report keeping me at my desk.
