Disclaimer: I don't own Cory in The House

"Hey Sophie," Cory said, "Do you have a minute?"

"Whatever," Sophie said with a sigh, "I guess"

"So look I'm sorry about the dishes," Cory said.

"Cory when you were babysitting it was supposed to be our time to hang together. You're my best friend," Sophie said.

Cory paused. He didn't know that Sophie felt that way about him.

"I am," he asked.

"Duh," she said, "Lately I feel like you don't care about me at all."

"I love you Sophie," Cory said, "You're like my sister. Of course I care about you."

"I didn't know that," Sophie said.

"Is there anything else bothering you," Cory asked.

Sophie paused. She didn't want to say it but there was something bothering her.

"Well yeah," she said, "What if the person who was supposed to protect you from being bullied was… the one bullying you? What would you do?"

"Sophie have you been being picked on," Cory asked.

"Yeah. Since Jake left Sammy my new friend has done nothing but pick on me, make me feel uncomfortable and been hurtful in every which way he can."

"Every which way?"

"EVERY which way," Sophie said, "and there's nothing I can do about it."

Well there's something I can do about it, Cory thought to himself, and there's something I am going to do about it.

"Tell you what," Cory said, "Forget about Sammy. I'll be your buddy."

Sophie grinned.

"Really?"

"Absolutely," Cory said.

"Cory that would be great," Sophie said and hugged him.

Cory hugged her in return.

"You know," Cory said, "You're better then you want to believe."

"I am America's Angel," Sophie said.

"Yes," Cory replied, "But you're more than that. You're Sophie Martinez. You are a valuable person no matter what anyone says."
