Chapter 1: A New curse

I cleaned Howl's castle, well mine too now, castle again today. Yes, I still clean, though I have less work on my hands. Howl is very reluctant to make me do so much work, but I always insist. It's the least I can do for the one I love. After our little 'adventure' in which we met, I fussed over every little cut, which I still do. C'mon, if you almost loose the one you love, of course you'd be a little fussy.

Suddenly, I felt warm hands cover my eyes and I stopped sweeping.

"Guess who," A man's voice I recognized very well whispered playfully, tickling my ear.

"Howl," I smiled, turning around into his loving embrace.

"Oh, what's this?" He asked, pulling something out of my hair.

I recognized what the objest was all too well. To my dismay, Howl had discovered another spell. How is it they always get there without me knowing? But I could tell this wasn't a minor one like most of the others. What danger will it bring?

"Oh, my heart of hearts,

My one true wish,

This is where your adventure starts,

You gave your heart

To someone else

Now you should hope it will last,

Or your love will be a thing of the past."

Howl read the note with enthusiasm, yet a little confusion, which had never occured before.

"What does it mean Howl?" A certain fire demon asked from the fireplace.

"Someone is jealous of Sophie," Howl stated, the paper already burning from his spell.

"Let me guess, the spell's still there," Markel snorted.

"Of course!" Calcipher growled. "It's never easy anymore!"

So someone's jealous of me? Who could it be? Surely not the Witch of the Waste, so who?

"Howl, what are we going to do?" I asked. "And do you have any idea who did this?"

"I'm not sure who," The wizard said, deep in thought. "But our first priority is to find that out. I won't have my starlight-haired love in danger."

I smiled. Yes, we must find out how extreme the curse is. I just hope we'll find out before the effects start!
