"Derrick! Come with me! It's not going to be long, okay?" Massie yelled at Derrick. "No! I'm going to the soccer game, you should come with me!" he yelled.
"I went with you last time – a chance to meet Stephanie Meyer is a once in a lifetime honor, Derrick, a soccer game between Josh and Kemp is something you see every day."
"That's not true. And you didn't even read the book! You saw the movie and then read like two pages."
"Come on Derrick!! The book store is like right there! "
"So is the field," he gritted his teeth.
"The bookstore is closer," she clenched her fist.
"Who woulda thought?" Cam came in, "Massie setting foot in a book store for something other than 17."
"I think you're talking about Alicia over there," Massie pointed.
"No, he's talking about you," Derrick said laughing.
"Fine, I'll go alone. If I get lost there, because it's 'the first time I go there,' I'm blaming you."
"I-If I get hit by the ball when…during…the soccer game… I-I'm blaming you!!"
"Go ahead, proves how much not man you are."
"We've established that a while ago," Josh grinned.
Furious, Massie grabbed her Caramel Macchiato and stuck her tongue out at Derrick. "I'm gone," she said swinging her hair off her shoulders. Everyone stared at Derrick intently, almost as if to pressure him. Derrick fidgeted in his seat and looked at the door.
"Derrick, I think you need an autograph from Stephanie Meyer pretty bad," Kristen said unsuccessfully stifling her laughter. Everyone laughed out loud anyways.
Derrick dashed out of his seat and without a word to everyone else called out, "Massie!"
"Is this a phase or something?" Kristen asked, still laughing.
"Oh, they just need to straighten out a few rough spots," Chris replied.
"Believe it or not, this is part of the good times," Kemp said.
"…Can I have the honor?" Dylan said grinning.
"It's too early."
"No, it's already been like 5 minutes."
"Go," Alicia ordered.
Dylan crept her way to the entrance and took her cell phone out. Perfect timing – Massie and Derrick were making out like the world was coming to the end. Dylan snapped a shot and ran back giggling. "They're going at it like dogs," she said bursting in laughter.
They all huddled around the window, everyone staring at them, as they stared at Derrick and Massie practically having sex out in public. It was like a cheesy 70s TV show, everyone huddled together tightly knit, and they would say something like, Oh, Massie and Derrick, and that would be the name of the show.
That fall, though, the two broke up.
