She was panicking. Panicking like she so rarely did. But the thoughts wouldn't stop. Thoughts of failing to succeed in University. Of dropping out and failing her mother and grandfather. Thoughts of hurting herself and drinking and substances and how will I get through the night. Thoughts of unbearable loneliness. Her world had expanded so greatly...she didn't know what to do.

On the other side of the well, her soulmate's heart wept with her. As she sat where she was, tears flowing freely, clutching her own arms so hard they were to bruise in the morning, his heart reached out to her. But she knew it wasn't enough. Her breathing was sharp and quick, nothing actually going into her lungs as she sobbed into her knees, her family away for the weekend. She sobbed and screamed into her arms.

On the other side of the well, her mate dropped to his knees in anguish, startling his friends. He made his way back to the well and slid inside. He scrambled to her window and wrenched it open to find her on the soft carpeting. Her body shook uncontrollably and his insides twisted painfully. He fell down, to his knees once more before her and pried her away from herself. He pulled her into his embrace and he whispered sweet nothings and reassurances into her ear until she calmed. Soft and warm, his hands kneaded her back but her tears didn't stop. She wished to go. To leave with him once more and never return. She wished he would wrap himself around her, bind himself to her heart and mind and never let her go. He wished she would see how much she was in his eyes, golden and bright. Together, they wished there was no tock after the tick.

Eventually she had calmed down, her eyes red and swollen, her hands shaking and her voice hoarse. But he was there. His own eyes matching slightly and his hands touching her comfortingly. He'd stay the night, he promised. He'd wake her in the morning with all the love he could muster.

He'd push her dark hair from her face and kiss her and tell her there was no one else for him. Ever. And she'd just smile, she'd gather her strength and her courage. And she'd smile.
