Shin raised his head up against Kumiko's swollen belly. Maybe he could hear a heartbeat, maybe he'll feel a kick.
Twilight stretched across the sky. It seeped through the windows and under the doors of the Yamaguchi household, bringing darkness.
By now his eyes were well adjusted to the dark. He could make make out the curve of her eyelids; she was sleeping. He listened closely hoping to hear something.
