Hello everyone, this is my first fanfiction story for "X-Files". I wrote this on my blog for this month's Friday the 13th but figured that it could also be a nice short one-shot for "X-Files" in honor of the show coming back to television for 6 episodes on FOX. A couple of notes, this story is completely fictional, any reference to it being true is for dramatic purposes only and Scully is a bit OOC in this fic. Reviews welcome and any flames will be deleted. Enjoy the story! =)

It is said that it's just a myth. A scary story to tell children around a campfire in the dark of the night. What they don't know is that it's very much real and it will strike when you least expect it. You won't even see it coming until it's too late. There's a name for it, and no one dared to speak it except for one, the 13th Curse.

It all started when Dana Mulder nee Scully's husband and partner, Fox Mulder, went missing from their home in the middle of the night. Scully tried everything short of begging every neighbour in town to help her find her husband but to no avail. Her husband was gone and no one would lift a finger to help her as the midnight storm drowned the sound of her cries.

The next morning, Scully called the local police to help her find her husband and bring whoever took him to justice. She was still feeling extremely overwhelmed with fear and sadness as the officers questioned her about the abduction, but she answered their questions as best she could. When the officers finished their questioning, they told Scully that they will do everything in their power to bring her husband back to her. Scully gave the officers a watery smile as they left, closing the front door behind them.

Later that night, as Scully was struggling to fall asleep, she heard a strange sound coming from somewhere inside the house. She first thought that it might be the house itself since it is almost summertime, the wood that was used to build the house is starting to expand, thus causing loud, creaking noises. Scully turned underneath the blankets to find a more comfortable position to sleep in when that same sound echoed through the house.

Curiosity getting the better of her, she decided to get out of bed and investigate. She treaded slowly across the bedroom and slowly turned the doorknob. As she opened the door and went downstairs, she saw that her front door was open. An icy chill ran down her spine as she thought of the worst. Scully opened the large oak door wider, allowing enough space for her to move through. She stood on the porch, looking for the source of the sound when a light as bright as the sun came out of nowhere, engulfing the entire house in a dome of light. Scully began to scream for help, but it fell on deaf ears as the light dissipated, leaving behind an empty porch.

End.
