I don't own the Matrix, bla bla :) I wrote this because I was told to! Well, actually I dreamt this happened to me one night, and as I told my Matrix fan online friends, they demanded me to write it as a fanfic. It was either this, or me giving my brain to one of them. You know who you are!
And this story is completed, there is only one chapter.

It was getting dark outside as Mist left the Internet café and went into the deserted city street. She was getting pretty tired from running after and contacting this coppertop who was going to choose the blue pill anyways. But she had to follow her captain's order. She sighed, and flipped her cell phone open. Finally time to get an exit. She hit speed dial "0" as usual, and waited for her operator to answer. Leaning back against a wall, she kept on waiting. Usually he answered right away... why did it take such a long time?

Finally someone picked up.

"Hello, this is Alicia?" It was an old woman's voice, not her operator for sure...

"I'm sorry, wrong number..." Mist hung up. What the hell? She stared at her cell phone. Her operator's number was always speed dial "0" when her cell phone was loaded in the Construct. How and why did it change? She shook her head, and examined the speed dial memory. Maybe she somehow had forgotten what speed dial to use... since now she saw there was speed dial "1" and "2". She tried "1", and waited.

"Yo yo, whazzup??"

Mist blinked. "who is this?" Wrong number again? It sounded like Shift, her operator. But that was not his usual greeting.

"Who is THIS?" the voice replied.

"Never mind, I seem to have gotten the wrong number..." she hung up again. What was going on with her phone? Maybe there was a glitch in the code? She tried speed dial "2" and waited. It didn't take long before someone answered.

"I told you not to call me on this number." It was a male voice again.

"I'm sorry..." she started, trying to say she was sorry she got the wrong number again.

"It's ok, I'm alone. Just order ten units, and I'll call you tomorrow." The man hung up.

Mist was getting mad. There were no more numbers stored on her cell phone, so she would have to remember the entire number. The problem was that she was been told this number, it hadn't been downloaded to her like other info and abilities. And she was only sure about the first digits.

After some thinking and trying to recall, she was sure she remembered it, and she dialed the number.

"Operator."

"Finally! I need an exit." Obviously she must had remembered the right number, but Shift's voice sounded a little odd. There was a pause. Then she heard laughter in the background.

"I think you got the wrong ship." Laughter could be still heard in the background. Mist was now furious.

"This is NOT funny! What ship is this?" She tapped her foot, and waited for the crew in the background to calm down.

"The Corazon. And what ship are you on? I can connect you to the right ship."

"The Viking" she spat out. And shortly after, Shift finally answered.

"Operator."

"I need an exit... waitaminute... you messed with my phone!" Shift was known as the ship's practical joker, but Mist hadn't been a target... yet.

"There is a pay phone at a bus station three blocks south from you" He sounded uncomfortable.

"Just you wait... the moment you pull that spike out...." She said in a threatening tone...

Click.

Mist sighed, and started walking, heading south. As soon as she grabbed that phone, heads would roll.
