SUMMARY: A moment in time with Cougar and Jensen.

Cougar sat on the hard rocky ground braced back against a cold boulder with sharp edges, his legs stretched out in front of him. His SR-25 was cradled in his arms, the barrel resting on his shoulder as he glared out at the world from under the brim of his hat. He was cold, hungry, and his twisted knee was swollen and throbbing.

The mission had been one SNAFU going FUBAR after another until it resembled one giant clusterfuck from start to finish. Their extraction from this hellhole couldn't get here fast enough; because Cougar's legendary patience had finally reached its end. He gritted his teeth and silently nursed a terrible and dark urge to sneak off and look for people to kill. He bit that back though. He was a sniper…not a serial killer on a rampage.

Once you crossed some lines there was no turning back.

So he contented himself with trying to glare the sun out of the sky and clutching his rifle like a teddy bear. A soft humming drifted on the breeze and without conscious thought, the tension in his shoulders eased…just a bit. A click of stone on stone and then Jensen folded his long legs and sat down next to him.

"Hey, Scary McGlare-Face."

One of Cougar's eyebrows arched in Jensen's direction, but the blonde just grinned and held out two ibuprofen.

"I figure the fierce scowl o' doom means it's time for another dose of the 'make it stop hurting' pills."

Almost against his will, Cougar could feel his expression softening. Jensen noticing his knee was aching again was a little thing, but it meant a lot to Cougar. Looking into Jensen's earnest blue eyes he didn't even toy with the idea of refusing out of stoic pride.

"Gracias."

He picked up the pills and popped them in his mouth. Jensen handed over a canteen of water and beamed.

"De nada."

He swallowed the pills, sighing as something eased inside his chest and a lightness settled in his heart. Cougar's shoulders loosened even more and his scowl softened into a small smile.

They sat there, side by side, Jensen humming quietly as he dug into another pocket. Grinning, he shifted and bumped his shoulder into Cougar's so Cougar looked over to see Jensen holding out one big hand with something small cradled in it. Eyebrows quirking in curiosity, Cougar held out his hand palm up. Jensen dropped the mysterious something into his hand and winked at him.

Cougar looked down at the object in his hand and stilled, his breath caught in his throat. There, sitting in the middle of his palm, was a single silver foiled chocolate kiss.

He glanced up into a blushing face with smiling blue eyes and made a quiet questioning noise. Jensen's blush deepened and he shrugged lightly.

"Just thought you could use one…."

Cougar could feel his expression shifting into something soft and warm even as he carefully unwrapped the kiss and popped it into his mouth to let it melt over his tongue. Then he placed his hand on the ground next to Jensen's and slowly reached out to curl his pinky around Jensen's while their shoulder's touched. Together they watched the sun set over the horizon.
