FORT WINCHESTER

Dean watched Sam pace around the room. This last hunt had taken a bad, bad turn resulting in Sam being staked naked outside in the midst of a phenomenal thunderstorm, a buffet offering for a bevy of hungry pagan gods. While there were really no actual wounds—the memory of the feel of their wild, wet tongues licking at him left Sam freaked out.

"Would it help if I built us a blanket fort?"

Sam stopped pacing. "Huh?"

"You know—a blanket fort. A safe zone. When we were kids and you got freaked out, I'd build us a fort out of blankets, sheets, pillows. Whatever I could find. We always called it Fort Winchester."

Sam snorted and shook his head, started pacing again. He didn't stop until Dean called his name.

"Here—get in." Dean pointed to the fort he'd just assembled.

"Dean…"

"Get. In."

Sam crawled inside and squirmed around until he got comfortable. Dean joined him minutes later armed with two beers, a bag of chips, and a box of Ho-hos.

"I feel like an idiot," muttered Sam.

"No you don't," Dean handed him a beer. "You feel better."

"What? No…I…how can you tell?"

"Big brother intuition.
