Disclaimer: I don't own any works by Tite Kubo, Shakespeare, or Ovid, and none of the stories used or mentioned belong to me, nor I do I make any profit or are affiliated with them in any way.
So, I'm going to be starting a new multi-chaptered story that is heavily based on the play "Pyramus and Thisbe." I'm using the both the Shakespearian adaptation from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and an abridged version of the original by Ovid that I found. While in AMND the play is portrayed somewhat crudely with less-than-proficient acting (except for in the last scene) I want to write this as if it were a regular story. The version that I'm using (if not all of them) is written in Early Modern English (the style that people like Shakespeare used) so in that there's a lot of symbolism; with this story, while I'm going to write it in modern day English, I'm going to attempt to keep the story as close and accurate the original as possible.
So, onto the FanFiction portion of my introductory rant! This is going to be GrimmUlqui fic. Grimmjow will be portraying Pyramus, and Ulquiorra will be the role of Thisbe. This is not going to be an AU, so it'll take place in Las Noches like in the normal Bleach universe but the roles of the original play will be more symbolic than figurative. For example, Aizen will represent the wall; obviously, he's not a literal wall, but he'll be the figurative block between Pyramus (Grimmjow) and Thisbe (Ulquiorra). If you want to know about the rest of the symbolism that will be used in this story, then you can take a look at the original story.
Below is a little piece that was used in the original to introduce the play which I will use. Onward from here I'll be telling my story; if I forgot to talk about anything then I'll address it in the next chapter.
And now, finally, we begin!

PROLOUGE:
Gentles, perchance you wonder at this show
But wonder on, till truth make all things plain.
This man is Pyramus, if you would know.
This beauteous lady Thisbe is certain.
This man with lime and roughcast doth present
"Wall," that vile wall which did these lovers sunder;
And through Wall's chink, poor souls, they are content
To whisper, at the which let no man wonder
This man, with lantern, dog, and bush of thorn,
Presenteth "Moonshine," for, if you will know,
By moonshine did these lovers think no scorn
To meet at Ninus' tomb, there, to woo.
This grisly beast (which "Lion" hight by name)
The trusty Thisbe coming first by night
Did scare away, or rather did affright;
And, as she fled, her mantle she did fall,
Which Lion vile with bloody mouth did stain.
Anon comes Pyramus, sweet youth and tall,
And find's his trusty Thisbe's mantle slain.
Whereat, with blade, with bloody shameful blade,
He bravely broached his boiling bloody breast.
And Thisbe, tarry in mulberry shade,
His dagger drew, and died. For all the rest,
Let Lion, Moonshine, Wall, and lovers twain
At large discourse, while here they do remain.

I just felt like adding that I'm in a really good mood because for my birthday tomorrow, I'm seeing the new Star Trek movie which I've been dying to see, and I'm going to my favorite Japanese restaurant with a hibachi grill.
