AN: Fairy Tail belongs to Hiro Mashima!
Hey! The song in this was inspired by the recent chapter of Fairy Tail! ^_^ I wrote it for MakeItHale for fun and they suggested that I made an actual story to go with it. So here's a little drabble! Please enjoy! ^_^
Gajeel clutched nervously at the neck of his guitar as a bead of sweat rolled down the back of his collar. He rubbed his neck to rid himself of the salty trail left by his nervousness. Would she even like his song? What if she hated it? He had spent hours planning this. He had considered buying her a new book and leaving a note in it, but he did not know which one to get her. Then he considered making a rune puzzle for her, but then he would have had to get Freed to help him. It was bad enough that he had had to ask Mira if he could do this.
He took his seat in the centre of the stage. Why was he doing this? This was stupid! What if she freaked out? What if she turned him down in front of everyone they knew? Lily appeared around the edge of the curtain and gave him a nod. She was here. Somewhere on the other side of the curtain, his little Shrimp was sitting with her friends, possibly even with a book. Would she be looking out for him or would she already be engrossed in her book? Lily gave him an encouraging thumbs up and vanished as quickly as he had appeared. Mira smiled across at him from the edge of the stage and started to open the curtains.
He began nervously strumming the tune he had written for the song.
It's not a sin to fall in love,
You can't even arrest someone for it,
It's not a sin to fall in love,
Everyone's looking for their perfect fit,
There she was. Lily had managed to position her in the very centre of the room, right in front of the stage.
It's not a sin to fall in love,
My own heart is ready to commit,
It's not a sin to fall in love,
Although once I was ready to quit,
Her cheeks began to turn a cute rosy colour as her eyes went wide and he smirked. His nervousness left him and his voice became stronger.
It's not a sin to fall in love,
But there's one thing I'd like to admit,
It may not be a sin to fall in love,
You stole my heart and you know it,
He could feel the weight of the box in his pocket as he readied himself for the final part.
So it may not be a sin to fall in love,
But stealing is a crime,
So you're gonna do the time.
Her entire face was crimson as he laid the guitar to one side and jumped down from the stage. He stayed in his crouched position by her feet, steeling himself for her answer. He pulled the box out of his trouser pocket and held it up to her. He could feel his ears burning as he lifted his head to look up at her. He opened the box and heard her breath hitch. He felt everyone's eyes on them as he waited for her to say something. He began to fidget as she just kept staring at the ring in his hand. He knew had basically told her that she was marrying him whether she liked it or not, but he actually wanted her to say that she did want to!
"Well?" He grunted, smirking up at her with a confidence her did not quite feel. "What d'ya say? We gettin' married or not?"
"Y-Yes!" She squeaked before beginning to giggle.
"What's so funny?" He frowned. He had been trying to be romantic, not funny!
"You made being married to you sound like punishment!" She laughed as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "It won't really be any different; I'll just be 'Mrs Redfox' instead!"
His face flushed as she beamed down at him. She was going to be Mrs Redfox.
"I love ya, Shrimp." He smirked as he stole a kiss from his fiancée.
Hope you enjoyed this! ^_^
