The End.

The television had come on everyday precisely at six o'clock in the evening, ever since the boys had moved in. It was Mello's orders of course, he had wanted to keep up with Kira and Near and a good way to do it was always through the reporters. Mello had other ways of finding out information regarding the Kira case too, like kidnapping Near's bodyguards and using them to his advantage for instance.

So when Ryder walked in from her morning shift to see the small Japanese woman holding a microphone on the screen, it did not surprise her. One thing however did…

The sound of gunshots blasted through the TVs small speakers, the shouting of police officers, and the rush of it all coming through live television is something I could never forget….

I was shocked at how far the program had let this go on, was it even legal? No forget it being legal, what they did was unfair. I couldn't see much through the crowds of police officers shoving back curious citizens but I knew before the colored lines and sound of a continuous beep took over the screen that it was Matt…..it was his red car after all.

Horrified, I could only stand there staring at the screen.

They had done it…they had went through with it.

I snapped from my thoughts and snatched up my cell phone that I had carelessly tossed on the couch and immediately dialed the number Mello had given me.

"This is for emergency purposes only, do not call me unless the house is on fire."

Ryder remembered what Mello had told her and somewhere in the back of her mind she was thinking,"This is definitely an emergency."

She waited for a ring but it never came.

Looking up next to the door, she walked over grabbing the keys and dialing another number.

At the first ring a deep voice answered.

"What?"

Her heart sank….it wasn't Mello.

"Who is this?"

"This is Tank who the fuck is this?" the man rudely replied.

"…this is Jay." she coolly answered.

Silenced was met before the man coughed and apologized.

"Whatever man is Mello there?" She asked a bit clipped.

"No he's out on a run, I can relay a message?" he politely asked.

Ryder cursed before hanging up the phone and getting into her car. She had no idea where she was going but if she tried she knew she could find Mello in the city.

They were like magnets after all.

As Ryder raced around the streets of Tokyo she knew there was only one thing she could do. She swallowed what felt like a brick lodged in her throat and flipped open the cell. She stared out the windshield, this had to be possibly the hardest thing to do but it was going to have to be done.

She called Lala…
