Notes for Potential Urban Arcana Fan Fictions 1 The Patriarch Chapter 1:

Not many people know this, but magic isn't gone from the world. It's just hidden.

Most of mankind typically doesn't see magic, or monsters, subconsciously covering up such things as horns on peoples' heads or fireball spells or monsters in the subway. They go through their everyday lives, never knowing about the fantastic that lives alongside them.

But there are those who CAN see Shadow for what it truly is, for better or worse. These heroes often work to aid the greater good.

For those in the know, magic can be a powerful tool, both for creation and destruction.

Small wonder that some parts of magic are found in the criminal underworld…

Celltus Bovar sat in his office, sipping a fine wine. He paid a healthy amount of attention to the petitioner in front of him, even though she seemed to just keep going and going and GOING.

If you were unwise in the ways of magic, you would see Celltus as a powerfully-built man, whose features were a blend of African and Greek, in a blue and gold suit.

However, if you could see Shadow for what it was, you would see a minotaur with the same features and suit in the chair, sipping the wine.

After agreeing to the petitioner's request (in exchange for a favor to be called in later), and after the petitioner had left, he turned to his consigliere and said: "Give this to Masserio. I just want them scared, not killed."

Celltus was leader of one of the top families in New York's magical underworld. He was also very good at his job.

One of his lieutenants was talking about the Triads and Red Sect, or Tonton Macoute (Voodoo mob) encroaching on their Talislegging operations (Talislegging is the sale, creation, and distribution of magical ingredients and talismans).

The final lieutenant was his chief one, Concetta the medusa. She wore sunglasses and a stylish business suit. She wanted to talk about the rumors that Desspereo was going to make a "major move".

Desspereo was a petty thug fused with something ancient and evil. One of Celltus's major rivals, he'd nonetheless been quiet for a while. What could he have been planning?

That's when an explosion rocked the mansion.
