Chapter 1: Departure

"Get in the car, you lazy bums!" Lieutenant Horatio Caine yelled at his forensic team; Timothy "Speed" Speedle, Calleigh Duquesne, Eric Delko, Ryan Wolfe, Alexx Woods and Natalia Boa Vista. Eric's sister, Marisol Delko Caine (married to Horatio) tagged along because she had nothing better to do. None of the others had anything else to do either.

It was the dead of night as the team loaded their luggage into Horatio's Hummer H2. 11:30 at night to be exact. They were leaving for Williamsburg, Virginia for a weekend vacation. The schedule told them that they needed to leave by midnight if they are to get there by the afternoon.

Eric yawned. "Why are we doing this again, H?" He asked his boss, throwing his suitcase in the trunk.

Ryan looked up from arranging the luggage so that there would be space for the eight of them and so that his OCD would be satisfied. "Yeah, why?"

Horatio shrugged and got into the driver's seat.

Twenty-Five minutes later

Marisol got into the front passenger seat of her husband's Hummer. Behind her, Eric pouted.

"Why does she get to sit in the front?" He asked as if he was a two-year-old.

Horatio put on his shades. "Anymore complaints from you and you're paying for the gas at the next rest stop," He turned around to face the rest of his team and said, "That goes for all of you."

The team pouted but said nothing. This was because half of them were broke at the moment. Horatio started the engine and Speed asked, "Are we there yet?"

"Shit! We haven't even left the damn parking spot!" Calleigh yelled, smacking him upside the head.

Horatio smiled. "That's the North Florida rest stop for Speed and the Georgia rest stop for Calleigh. Anyone else want to pay for the gas?"

Ryan burped.

"That's North Carolina for you, Mr. Wolfe."

Ryan folded his arms. "Man!"

"Do you want to pay for the food too, Ryan?" Marisol asked, turning around.

The Trace and QD specialist shrank in his seat.

"Thought so,"

"And here we go," Horatio said, putting in a CD he'd compiled just for this trip. He started to back out of the parking spot as the music started.

"HEY, YOU, DON'T WATCH THAT! WATCH THIS! THIS IS THE HEAVY, HEAVY MONSTER SOUND OF MADNESS!!" The stereo boomed.

The team looked at their boss in complete confusion. "HUH?"

"It was either this or the Milk and Cereal song," Horatio explained. "It's a mix of songs from the eighty's."

"Oh, boy," Natalia said.

"You're paying for the food, Natalia!" The rest of the people in the car said suddenly.

"Shit…" Natalia commented.

"…And souvenirs," Horatio and Marisol added.

The song 'Our House' by Madness started off the two-hour long mix Horatio had blasting. It took this long for the team to get to I-95. Horatio put another one in when it ended. 'Streetbeat' by Toni Basil started to play and the CSIs in the back groaned.

"You guys are paying for parking AND the tickets for the theme parks," Horatio said.

"THEME PARKS?!" The passengers yelled.
